Those penguins are live btw!

While I was looking for places to fly to/from, I got a better understanding of why Maggie Thatcher so vehemently defended the Falklands (domestic political motives aside).
Stanley is a perfect (and only) staging post for British ambitions in Antarctica.
Which leads to the question of why everyone is so keen to have a foothold in that incredibly hostile environment.
FOMO certainly, but getting to any resources that lie beneath 2 km of ice would be a somewhat taxing task.
Australia has laid claim to a huge chunk of the place.
On the flipside
the United States and Russia assert their right to make claims in the future if they so choose
