MSFS 2024 Sim Update 3 released

Well, this is done and dusted, I haven't had a proper flight yet, but I have been tweaking settings a bit. For some reason FSR 3 no longer works well, and any other frame gen setting freezes the sim while loading any flight, but by switching this off I get a good, solid performance, just not at 60FPS. I am in fact amazed at the performance now, I have limited the framerate to 30 (if I can get framegen to work then it'll be 60) but on High settings and 1440P it keeps the GPU down around 60-70%, which is a lot better than the old 99% on just about any settings. Even trying it at 4K didn't max out the GPU, although a bit too close for comfort so I've reverted to 1440.

LODs are much improved, almost back to (2020) performance. The UI is a lot nippier than it was, although I might just be comparing it to an early SU3 beta.

There's a new Local Legend, the Eurocopter EC135, which is the last 'make up' freebie. I've landed it on every attempt so far, which is good for me:)

I'm happy to make this my sim of choice again, and hope to get back into development which I've put off for almost a year while the sim was being fixed.

I just did my first flight with it, continuing a tour around England I've been flying in the Carenado 182Q. Performance was good - I'm running it on a very high end system and it was fine before as well, but some people have reported big drops since SU3 and I certainly didn't see that. The graphics looked a bit crisper, I don't think I was imagining that. I haven't tested yet to see if the crash I was getting when trying to load into a flight with LoD set to maximum is still happening, ever since SU2 I've had to set it to 10 when loading a flight and then reset it to 400 once the flight loads, otherwise it has about a 50/50 chance of freezing while loading in.

Four words we have all been waiting to read Rob..........."get back into development".
From my limited reading of the update there seems to be an issue with the 5000 series cards and unexpected poor performance.

Updated Thursday night. No real problems so far. One CDT at NZWN but I think that was self-inflicted. None since.

Still getting an unbelievable 100 fps (on an Nvidia RTX 3060 - WTH?), by using that trick I saw on Youtube and MSFS Forum (https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/20 ... ate/681569) about setting your Monitor Refresh to half of the usual refresh rate.
