AFS4 Haast to Hokitika

Postby emfrat » Sat Feb 15, 2025 9:46 am

Out of Haast for Moeraki, a side trip to Glacier Country, then on to Hokitika with a "Lost Horizon" moment on the way when the pax realise there's no one driving the bus, and finally a rare moment recorded at NZHK
(they can still use the plane)

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

Ta mate
Just discovered I had a duplicate pic in there, but it's gone now.
Been using the duplicate scenery file finder by flightXtreme and it has picked up quite a few. I need to know just what went where, then I can tidy up. Community add-ons should be in a 'Custom' folder so that Steam does not over-write them but I am not sure that is working. That NZHK runway is not photo, so it may be from the fsCloudPort AFS2 files that apfelflieger ran through the AFS Scenery Converter.

Ahhhh, that's what I thought Mike.....No I didn't :ph43r:
But I do enjoy reading stuff, about stuff I don't know about...from people who do...even if I never will.

Marty - I have been trying to establish just what we are seeing in my ASF4, in terms of NZ scenery.
As I thought the airfields are the conversions from the AFS2 FSCloudport ones. They have a distinctive 'look' which you can see in this pic of Whenuapai. The misalignment is produced by errors in the original FSC file.

After clearing some duplicate files, I took a run from Welly up to PP and discovered this horror. I posted an AFS2 screenie which showed it, so it probably pre-dates the GeoffKiwi mesh add-on. I was surprised to see it rear its ugly head again in AFS4 and set that problem aside for later...

I then made a change to prove which airfields were showing, which should not have affected the mesh at all, and ran up to Para again just to check.
I found the GK mesh was now looking great:

No wonder I am getting grey and grumpy and thin on top!
