I've not had any major issues, and I suspect that the vast majority are the same, it's easy to be overwhelmed by the negative feedback on the forums....
However I can see how some people would be annoyed at some of the changes. I have been waiting for this update as it allows developers to 'see' their scenery as it would appear on the Xbox, allowing them to tweak it for compatibility. The only real tool to control visibility is LODs, so I'm busy adding LODs to everything. The official recommendation is to have 4 LODs for each object, which is bit of an overkill for a lot of mine, which are basically just a textured box -- there's only so far you can optimise a simple box, but if you have only one or two LODs then smaller objects will disappear often. I need to think things over and see if there's a better way. I'm still awaiting the promised SDK update for some final features to allow me to release Taieri. I'm really pleased with the performance gain since the update, but I can certainly see what was traded to get there.
The Xbox LOD preview option within the sim is meant to be temporary, eventually it'll just be part of the PC sim, so a lot of developers will be scrambling to optimise their scenery.
For some reason, now the development camera won't stay level, although it's easy to reset it all the time, but I get very frustrated tearing around adding and tweaking models until my head is just about sideways, and I fall off my chair!
I do think there's a change to the lighting, I notice it mostly at dusk, I heard the cloud rendering called 'cartoony' since the update, and that's how I see it sometimes. Still, we've been through a lot of tweaking of this sort of thing over the last year, so I am sure that if people really find this an issue then there'll be a fix at some point. Or else that's just the way it is now that the sim needs to work on an Xbox. I have nothing against the Xbox, I may buy one again (I had the original and the 360 previously) but the need to have both PC and Xbox versions of the sim the very same seems asking for trouble.
As I said, though, performance is a lot better, which is no small thing.
