Is It Worth To Buy?

Postby Aharon » Fri Jan 29, 2021 4:20 am

Shalom and greetings all my pals,

Is it worth to buy Flight Replicas DC-4 package consisted of few different variants plus cargo Carvair plane for the sale price of 20 bucks for use of FSX??

Or should I stick to freeware CalClassical DC-4s that are doing fine for me??

Is the payware add on too much work to do in order to fly? My only interest is to create beauty of screenshots and have fun flying it without too much work to fly. Does the payware add on have built in failure feature that will shut down engines and crash your plane if you do not do proper job using propellers to fly?

Regards,

Aharon

Shalom Aharon,
I purchased that pack recently for P3D4 just for something different....and because I have a soft spot for the DC-4.
Like you, I mainly get these things just for screenshots, the tech side isn't really a selling point for me, as long as it looks good.

This package is priced right for what it is. Includes (as you know) the weird-looking Carvair, a fire bomber, military variants along with some nice retro paint jobs.
The cockpits are ok ...everything is there, but in my opinion, the textures are a little flat. The same goes for the exterior textures ...flat. They need to be "dirtied" up a little.
I'm sure you will have no problem managing the systems if you need to.

Overall, I was a little disappointed with it, just because of the textures ...but I can certainly use it.

So ...young man, my advice to you would be if you're happy with the CalClassical then stay with it ...they have been around forever and produce some great stuff.
I really think you won't gain much by having this package ...but, then maybe you would :)

Me too All I care is terrific exterior appearance of planes so necessary for beauty of screenshots

Oh darn crisp sharp liveries are very important for beauty of my screenshots. I thought amazing crisp sharp liveries by world famous Jankees solve that problem of too flat textures??

I have agreed with you and I have terrific freeware Calclassic DC-4 and C-54 with tons of tons of crisp sharp liveries

BUT the problem is that I cannot resist Carvair planes with crisp sharp Ansett liveries in payware FlightReplica model base. That makes me wonder if it is worth 20 bucks for that Carvair cargo plane unless you or anybody tells me there is terrific freeware FSX compatible Carvair with functioning front cargo nose doors and superb crisp livery repaints out there that I am not aware of.

Aharon ...just buy it. I may have misled you with my "flat" comment. The paints are "crisp"
What I meant was, the overall textures just seem to need a little more ...texture ...some dirt and staining.

You will enjoy the Carvair....but just buy it dude...go on, you know you want it.... :)

Splitpin,

I have decided to buy it because it is only high quality Carvair cargo plane available in FSX for freeware or payware and I have bought it. Hope it is worth 20 bucks for fun use of cargo Carvair hauling!!

Interestingly Hasegawa Andreas was looking for the same, almost a year ago in his posting Looking for Repaint Nationwide Air ATL 98 Carvair Flight Replicas

For FSX Textures you can find New Zealand's only Carvair livery for Nationwide Air a small NZ 3rd level domestic airline that provided a passenger and motorcar, freight ferry service between North and South Islands of NZ, briefly between 1978 and 1979. Timetables found in the above information link.

Here on this simviation.com webpage link

FSX Textures for Flight replicas Carvair as Nationwide Air livery. Tested in windows 7 SP1 SP2 Repaint by Stephen Browning

Also see Hasegawa Andreas screenshot posting of his Carvair Nationwide Air adventure flight from Wellington International Airport (NZWM) - Nelson Airport (NZNS)

Which it looks like that you responded to way back in April 2020 from last year with the comment.

Radar88,

Thanks for great answers and very important hyperlink to download of the repaint!!! You might not be aware that you also solved my problem of looking for the Irish airline livery that I need for Carvair because your same hyperlink also is for download of the Irish repaint too in addition to New Zealand one!!

Thanks I am still testing the planes. I am surprised that Carvair does not have loading bay in front of the operable front nose cargo door!!
