NZFF February 2018 Screenshot Competition

The competition is now open! February is a short month, so I've got this one under way before the end of voting for January.

NOTE: We have TWO VOTES:
1) Visual Appeal: the winner gets their image displayed as a banner for the following month.
2) Relevance to the Theme: the winner gets the sponsored prize and sets the theme for the next screencomp.

The two votes can go to the same entry or to different ones.

The February theme is: "CAMO" ... chosen by Splitpin, winner of the December (theme) competition. If you have any theme-related queries, send him a PM!
Any aspect of "camouflage": any location, any sim, any season (hint!) ... any aircraft - but a Milviz one would go down well with our sponsor ;) !

The screenshot has to show an aircraft somewhere - no clever "empty/obscured by clouds" shots with the caption "good camo, innit?" :ph43r:
There's plenty of scope for those prepared to "think outside the box".

Image
This month's competition is kindly sponsored by Milviz. The winner will receive a download of their choice from the excellent Milviz Product Range.
They're great developers and have been a great sponsor, so let's honour them with a good turnout!

The new voting procedures appeared to be quite successful, so we'll be giving it another whirl this month:

  1. Two-part competition (as now).
  2. No polls.
  3. Voting is OPEN - and placed by posts in a new (voting) topic.
  4. Votes would simply be along the lines of Visuals vote to XXXX and Relevance vote to YYYY. Voters may add why they voted the way they did if they wish.
  5. Five days and the voting topic is closed (as now).

SCHEDULE
Images can be submitted (or edited) up until midnight Wednesday 28th February.
Voting runs from Thursday 1st March up until midnight Monday 5th March.

Please read the rules below: if you have any queries, please PM Comp Admin for clarification **before posting your entry**.

    ELIGIBILITY
  1. Entry (and voting) for the competition is open to all registered NZFF members.

    THE SCREENSHOT
  2. The screenshot image must consist of a screen captured from a flight simulator program (FS2004, FSX, P3D, X-plane, DCS/IL-2 or War Thunder).
  3. Some editing is allowed: additional images can be added (either real or other screenshots), but the main component of the image should always be from a flight sim.

    IMAGE FORMAT
  4. The images can be jpg or png and must be EXACTLY 1280px wide (any depth) - and no "fancy" borders, please, as these will need to be cropped off for the banner.
  5. Though "visual appeal" is all about the complete screenshot image, bear in mind that (if it wins that poll), the final banner crops to around 1200px * 380px (max) - which is quite a narrow letter-box shape - so try to compose your shot so as not to lose areas of high interest.
  6. No frames or text on the image.
  7. Keep the original uncompressed/high resolution version (BMP or TIFF) saved on your PC - admin may request it from you at the end of the month to convert into a site banner!
  8. DCS users may want to look at these tips.

    SUBMITTING AN ENTRY
  9. Please post all screenshot/entries here - in this topic.
  10. Only one entry/single image per member is allowed.
  11. Images can changed any time up until closing time (midnight, last day of the month): use the "edit" button at the top of the original post, delete the old image link and replace it with the new one.
  12. If possible, please add details of the aircraft depicted and general scenery/location information.

    VOTING
  13. After the competition entry deadline, all registered NZFF members may cast TWO votes: one for visual appeal and one for relevance to the theme.
The two votes can both go to the same entry or to different ones - but please vote in BOTH categories.
  14. Entrants may not vote on their own screenshots (!).
  15. Voting runs for five days after the entry deadline.
  16. The winner in the "relevance" poll receives the prize from the designated sponsor and gets to suggest a theme for the next screencomp.
  17. The winner in the "visual appeal" poll will have a cropped version of their image posted as the NZFF banner for the following month.

That's it, folks - get snapping!

I've always wanted to enter a FTX screenshot, so this is the month. This shows Kamo Road (I swear, running right along the bottom), Whangarei. The scenery is FTX at its best, mainly because of all this lovely detail.
This tells an ongoing story which I've been putting together for years (in my head), based on the NZ movie 'Sleeping Dogs', where New Zealand has fallen into a fascist state, calling on the US military to help with the rebel problem... Here we are approaching the Northland Rescue Helicopter base (the pink roofed complex) to evacuate wounded US troops.

Here's my entry. The *excellent* Milviz Ju-87 persuaded to work in P3Dv4.1.

Hard to believe, but this was taken over an arid part of New Zealand (well, it's been a long, hot summer!).

Great shot!! I can't believe that aircraft is FREE! It's a real gem - and so many repaints for it as well!

Adam.

EDIT: Thanks for resizing it B-)

Here you see either Mike Pearson's Saab Draken, Menno van den Boogaard's SR-71 or John Young's Lancaster, depending on what image best works for my current mindset...

Please, folks - comp rules and ideas have tossed around for the TWELVE years <_< . Please don't clutter up the actual entries thread - it's best to thrash these things out here:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=20594
... or here (if you can't see the one above) ...
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=20711

I've moved the two posts to the "Voting For the Screenshot Competition Poll" topic (2nd link).

A great pic! I took the liberty of editing your Postimage code so you could see the full image and not the thumbnail link B-)

Is that DCS/Nevada?

Hi
Sorry, because I am a donkey with the computer.
Yes is DCS, Mig29 in nevada desert, but (do not find rare intentions). Nevada is the only desert scenery in DCS.

Thanks
