I think you'd need to look at each addon, as policies vary. Orbx is probably the easiest, although it does involve downloading everything, just run FTX Central after installing v4 and you can then ask it to just install everything for you.
PMDG, I'm not sure about, but I think they don't do free updates, and their Prepar3d prices are steep... I only have one PMDG aircraft, a comp prize, and I think I flew it once, far too complex for me!

Save money on RAM (8 is fine) and GPU, but spend a fortune on overclocking/cooling...
toprob wrote:For me, yes, but I know that some people have different requirements. I have a 5-year-old i5, and FSX has all settings all the way up, locked to 40FPS, and is rock-steady. But for people who want 120FPS, it wouldn't work. And it still looks like a 90s video game...
What I really meant was the latest gen i7 is great, but it will still be hobbled by FSX's inability to use much of it. You may be better off with a five-year-old i7 'k' overclocked to the limits of what your neighbourhood power grid can handle -- you want a CPU/cooling system which makes the lights flicker when you start flying...
