Not too far away from the sounds of things. This year at least...

I have had a 256gig ssd sitting around so it's about time to put it in the machine to get ready.

It's in beta and LM are showing off screenshots so I'll be very surprised if we don't get it before the end of the year.

The fact Orbx are now building triple-option installers means they must have production or near-production code to test against.

Can't wait!

Now that's what I call news, cheers for the update, Ade.

whenever I check for this kind of news or major updates, it's never there, whenever I don't it's there. However, it's always a nice surprise to perk up the day a little more.

Nice to see the tech there but i'm not too convinced with the FPS as it looks jittery at least in the video after take off, do you have a reason for this?

I would assume it is the GTX 580 or recorder software!? I have a GTX 780 so hope that I could max out my settings and have smooth as silk FPS.

Your thoughts?....

I get more FPS and no stutters when I'm not recording with DXTory or Fraps. My PC is pretty old nowadays. Only Core i7 950 @3.2Ghz and GTX 580.

Since you have a GTX 780 your FPS will be EPIC! No doubt about that.

Like many, I am on the brink of a Big Decision.

WIN XP is about to run out...
WIN 7 needs a very slightly gruntier computer than my ageing Core2 Duo...
FS9 can run under WIN 7, but there are going to be issues, no matter what.

Maybe this is the moment: bleeding edge hardware/WIN 7/P3D?

Whew, it won't be easy... I'll be watching Marty's thread with interest.

You'll be safe here with regard to hardware side of things, P3d version 2 won't have the woes that we are all used to with trying to tweak the hek out of it just to get it to a decent standard.

My only concern at the moment is the fact Orbx have a separate selection in their installers for P3D version 2.0. I hope that doesn't mean it differs too radically from the FSX default file structure as that could cause havoc with some addons. 1.x was never a problem, but the very fact of a separate option suggests something is different.

A long time ago I also asked LM whether they were planning an auto-updater for P3D and got a positive response, saying they were hoping to implement it for 2.0. If this has been included it'll avoid the need to rebuild everything every time there's a new version. Fingers crossed.

My own question answered by Lionheart Creations on SOH:

"They can now also update P3D with mini update packs instead of total reloads. That is nice. "
