Ok....listening to NZAR right now and heard the following scenario:

Aircraft calls final for 21 grass, tower calls aircraft to report weight restriction on grass being 900kg, aircraft responds "do I exceed that", tower responds "yes you do" but i'll let you go for a one off landing, aircraft "Thank you very much [ends with callsign].

Well.....first thing's first, this guy in the pilot seat should know his weight of the aircraft...secondly, there's a reason for the weight limit on the grass and the pilot should have revised his Notams before getting out there. I think the tower was very nice to him but perhaps a flick around the ear may occur off the radio.

I was flying AMN around the time AAC were joining on final - I was number two behind them and was going about as fast as its possible to go in a C-162 to get in quick before the Harvard formation turned on to base for the grass!

Hey Leo,

Was it a harvard that I heard then? I couldn't get my ear around the callsign because of some distortion on my side here but the radio chatter did seem quite wacky as I was listening to it. I'm sure it wasn't a Harvard though or AAC. In any case the way it unfolded gave me the impression of a slightly unorganized airman. However, I wasn't up their so don't know the reasons behind the decision. Maybe you can shed some light on it further?
