Tasman Glacier Hut

With a great selection of good quality NZ scenery both payware freeware now available the flightsim can come in handy as a 'better than google earth' atlas which has kindled my interest in New Zealand as a country having very scenic qualities as well as a fascinating history (not to mention an ace flightsimming community).

Recently reading Sir Edmund Hillary's personal story of his Antarctica transit and exploration (No Latitude For Error H&S 1961), his description of the training camp he set up on the Tasman Glacier for his crew prior to departure caught my attention, especially the use of Auster and Beaver aircraft to resupply the base at 'Malte Brun" hut perched on a ledge 500' above the glacier at 5700 ft.

I am wondering if that hut is still actually in existence??

That would place you August 1956 and supplies were dropping close to a hut called Malte Burn on that namesake , the range which opposite and divides the glacier to Mt Cook , two aircraft flew in , Beaver and Auster , that one the Auster got broken on the glacier , damage was fixed done in ten days but i have no point or position for the hut .
