Thanks Ian ... now I have a question for you ...
Does doubling the texture size from 1024 to 2048 significantly impact performance (these days)? With this Rapide/Dominie, there really aren't *that* many textures, so I suspect the frame-rate "hit" wouldn't be too bad. Is it worth me working to 2048?
Ian Warren wrote:QUOTE (Ian Warren @ Feb 5 2012,4:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>No real texture hit anymore , most production paints and payware scenery use this now as base textures so no real hit all .
Great - thanks for that ... watch this space!

Uh ... oh ... I don't think so! I mean - Peter Jackson actually has *talent*!

Couldn't have put it better myself Ian.
Well done Adam, it's already looking pretty much like the photo. Will have to issue those civvies some blue uniforms though... just kidding.

Now there's an idea ... I may take a look at those ... after I've finished the aircraft itself. I quite like the way the current ones look out of the windows - not just straight ahead.

Heh! Hadn't thought of that!
Anyway ... thar she blows!!!! ...
A few tweaks to do yet (prop) ... and I may "dirty her up" just a fraction ... plus take a look at those dodgy looking characters in the cabin

Hmmm that,s a good idea ... a company NZFF pax mugshot
GDNZ wrote:QUOTE (GDNZ @ Feb 5 2012,9:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Good idea, even RNZAF aircraft get a little dirt on them now and then. You're going beyond the call of duty on this project Adam.
It's just that, quite often, the pure white areas bleach out completely and you lose all that lovely ribbing. What I'll do soon is make a beta version available on NZFSIM so I can get some feedback and maybe have people spot some "gotchas" that I may have missed ... then I'll put it up on the usual places. It's been very enjoyable so far ... plenty still to learn though (like what a specular bump map actually does)!

Ooooh! Great! It's a tremendous aircraft - and it'd be great to have a more "up to date" version. What Dave did in the aircraft.cfg file is very clever - where a letter prefix determines what features show on the model.
Anyway ... here's the beta (around 6.7Mb) for you all to play with. Debug feedback to the email address in the readme please - rather than clutter up this thread
However - it looks like I do need a bit of help ...
I'm having difficulty finding pics of the NZ 528 in *plan* view, so I can see the colours of the wings/tailplane. For instance - is the colour of the *top* of the upper wing and fuselage a pale blue (ie. neither white nor grey)?
See this pic ...
Similarly, it's hard to know what the *undersides* of the wings/tailplane are ...Last edited by Adamski on Mon Feb 06, 2012 5:39 pm, edited 1 time in total.
