I seem to spend more time hunting for addons than flying at the mo,but still flew over 800hrs in the last 12mths.

Hey Brad, welcome to the community mate. Sounds like a cracker rig you have setup there, and with all those addons you must be getting paid for some of those 800hrs i hope laugh.gif

Hi to All,
I am a 61 year old Kid living in Gore Southland I am an Ambulance Paramedic and have been doing that since leaving the Armed Forces, first started simming on the original Flight Sim where everything started at Megis field on a very old and low performance computer, i have tried all the new flight sims (Microsoft) since then but my lack of computer savy causes me some headaches i had a gaming computer built for me running on Vista and that was a little hard to get used to after windows 98. Flight Sim X delux is what i am using despite what a work colleague who is an IT specialist told me to avoid due to its frequent crashes however that matches my flying capability until i have had lots of practice.
Flight sim is very addictive however, compared to the games my 12 year old step son plays which only involves left and right, up and down keys and space bar i find it a learning tool to find my way around the computer.

Hey Tom, welcome to nzff mate, youve found the right place to share the addiction tongue.gif
Not sure about your IT mate's comment, dont have many FSX crashes myself, make sure you're running the service packs and you should be ok, see: http://www.microsoft.com/Products/Games/FS...es/default.aspx

Hi just to introduce myself. I am a serving RNZAF member (non flying) and have been playing around with the sim world for a couple of years. Just got seriously interested and about to upgrade my computer with a NVIDIA GTX 460 CARD and 4G ram. Family bought me a IR Tracker 5 so looking forward to getting into some multi player stuff.
Still got lots to learn but appreciate the support from folks in fora like these.

Happy to stay with the King air as the preferred platform.

kind regards

Harold

G'day all, thought it about time I checked in here. I live in North-West Victoria, Oz. Have recently returned from a Campervan holiday around the South Island which was absolutely incredible and, as I said in the screenshot forum, have become quite enamoured with NZ - the people, the scenery, the lifestyle; it really is the complete package. Top that off with some awesome flying and who wouldn't want to live there!.
My first sim was FS8, which quickly gave way to FS9 which I have stuck with ever since (too much money and time invested in add-ons and tweaking to go over to FSX). I got more heavily involved in simming with the inception of VOZ where I was pretty active on the forums (I was quite proud of my double-digit membership number), but I was left behind when the Orbx products started coming out for FSX. As well as using FS for a bit of fun, I also use it to practice IFR procedures since I have a CPL in RL. Most of my flying these days is in Cessna singles up to the 210, but I've got a multi rating as well. Also do a little repainting, mainly of VH- registered GA aircraft (you can find my paints by searching "Adrian Thompson" at AVSIM.)
Anyway, thanks for having me here and happy flying!

Az

Afternoon all
I've finally signed up after reading all the usefull info this site has.
My name is Martyn and live out in West Auckland, NZ.
Been flying on FSX for about the last 2 years off and on.

Really enjoying in, but find most days there isnt enough time to sit down and go "sight seeing"

I do have a question, does any one know of a site where I can get a C130 add-on from?
I can't download it, as our new place doesn't have broad-band, so would need a disc.
I've just bought FSceneX , so waiting for that to turn up, not too happy with the std terrain.

Hopefully next year broadband will be connected so i can get new add-ons.

Thank you and once again, hi

Martyn

Hi Martyn , First of all hi and Welcome . You should have come here directly but first off all -

The best C-130 is the Captain Sim model , you find it may be a little expensive but it is the best out there , i'll source a link for the CD version for you and the cheapest unless someone posts or finds a link first .

As far as New Zealand scenery go's this is the payware site were the scenery can be supplied on CD . pity Vectorlandclass would suit you for all NZ and covers hills rivers and many bits and pieces .
http://www.windowlight.co.nz/
http://www.vectorlandclass.co.nz/

Now there is another site , I'm not sure if Mike would do a special set of CD/DVD but areas here are very very cheap .

EDIT: Boxed Captain Sim published , packaged by JustFlight :

Gidday from NZPM

One of my local stores has a range of just flight products and they do postage all over the country. I have the JF version and I love it, the only problem is you can't get all the expansion packs of CS C130 ie JTO etc.

If I'm in town over the weekend I'll drop in and see Matt or one of the others there, if not I'd think they can get if for you vrc

Good one Paul thumbup1.gif , there you go Martyn the CS130 , it will be cheaper because the UK sites package has extras you cant use so costs more.

Dropped in this morning they don't have it in stock, but drop them a email from the link above and see what they can do.
