FS9 GUI Scenery Database

Read and report on flightsim developers progress of upcoming or completed products

Timmo started something similar for FSX IIR, can't recall how far it went.
Anyhow, rather than just grumping on in the forums I thought something like this might be of value to those wanting to fly FS9 in NZ.
It's just a Google Earth kml file with clickable links to the file source.
Makes it easy for someone starting out in NZ, or someone who's forgotten what's where!
I have split the sceneries into
  • Photoreal area scenery
  • Scheduled-service airports
  • Local Airports
  • Military Airports

Any further suggestions are welcome at this stage...

Hardly scratched the surface, but I am reminded why NZ has been regarded as one of the best FS environs...

Can't find links for
Turangi Photoreal
NZTN Turangi airport
NZPP Paraparaumu

Anyone know of a home for these?

Done!

Actually it's a great resource in FS.
One of the many AI packages I concocted for a Wanaka airshow needed a source airport which wouldn't make a mess of scheduled WOAI GNZLAP and VOZ traffic with scads of Mustangs and such.
Guess what?
At certain times of the year, a stroll on the grass of my FS9 WCdr Warren Wigram scenery would bring a tear to a Warbird enthusiast's eye.

Guess why I hardly ever leave your splendid hemisphere (replacing it by the pacific Northwest)!

Cheers from Western Siberia,
Markus.

Thanks Alister - I have it on my HDD of course, but couldn't remember where I got it!
It's a very good (=better than the FSX version!) scenery because it picked up a little more hi-res photoreal.

Markus - it is a good idea, and I pinched it from Nick Schreger and Soren Mathiesen who used it for the AES-equipped airports!
And while you are visiting here, my favourite flying is in the blizzards and snow: Tolmachevo.
Now that truly is "Siberia", and a long way from Berlin!

I've decided to add a layer: International airports.
Forgot that Hamz is one, can't think of any more.

Thanks Alister...

GE has a better street view feature now, just zoom down

and you're there

so you can get a "feel" for the airport before you go fly in the sim

Although it's already outdated, I've put a kmz file up on flightsim.com - just search for "charl"
Be interested to see if it lights up on anyone else's computer!
I had to reinstall some more NZ scenery to check it out, and one thing led to another.

Maybe I'll start a little photo essay...

A hundred or so downloads, couple of hundred views...OK I assume there is a bit of interest, so I've uploaded Version 2 with better links (!) and more airports.
Should be on flightsim.com tomorrow.

Version 3 should be up at flightsim.com now.
Nels has been a champion there, dutifully pulling the previous version, and correcting my repeating typos.
It's now pretty much done for the southern half of the SI, with links to the Postcards too, this time.

Final version v5 is now at flightsim.com.
Once again Nels has risen to the occasion, and fixed my bungled upload...
The FS9 airport listing is pretty much complete, and properly categorised, so you can filter and view e.g. local airfields only.
I may do one last upload if I don't run out of postcards.
