Falcon 4 AF, to be honest having seen it running, we should upgrade, which would you guys reccommend, I was thinking of going 3 ways, for those who wanted carrier landngs (yes I know, f-16 on carrier=no), FSX. Then for those who want to have completely arcade fun: HAWX, then for a f-16 simulation I'm still looking, IDEAS???

HAWX = shite for joystick and throttle. It's a keyboard/mouse game or maybe gamepad if you have one.

FF5.3? Looks a lot better and is fairly stable, especially if you set it up to run TEs...

For F-16 sim I reccomend F4AF for stability in MP and also it has a very stable dynamic campaign and inflight refuelling, FAC/On call CAS. If you want to take it to the highest level of detail then Open Falcon 4.7 is the best as it features almost everything from the MLU tapes/USAF F-16 manuals including a working data link and in game voice coms for multiplayer. The IVC has separate UHF and VHF channels for HAVQUICK. You can get OF 4.7 from here and theres also software for MFDs and your ICP. The data link works in MP as well for both A/A and A/G modes and also you can launch multiple Aim 120s at multiple targets as they've modeled the extra radar modes for it.

For CarrierOps I'd reccomend FSX Acceleration Hornet as eventhough the FM is porked in some areas it still portrays the process of a carrier landing the best yet for FSX. Sometime early next year VRS will be releasing the FSX VRS Superhornet which is the most complex aircraft addon ever made for FS the carrier launches require precalculation to set the end speed for the cat and it models every single button for the superhornet. You can also inflight refuel with the VRS superhornet as well as shoot missiles at EW radars/SAM search radars, AI aircraft and drop bombs.

I've had a few CTDs with FF5.3 and also the aircraft are not modeled as much as open falcon plus when red viper split they never kept the TGP view for the MFD from RV. Next mod in development is BMS 3 and its supposed to have alot of improvements over OF and FF.

One other thing Open Falcon requires the original Falcon 4 CD to install it.

For a proper F-16 flight sim you might also consider this sim:

This is if you wish to take your F-16 sim to the next level which is the closest to the real thing without breaking any laws(due to classified data being shared with civilians) only problem is the cost but for its level of detail its quite good. There was word of a home user version being made so I guess we just have to wait and see.
Current cost is 15000 Euros.

I've got no wish to turn this into a falcon-flavor-fight. FF5.3 campaign isn't great stability-wise it's true. But then again, I think that is also missing the point a little bit - no one is going to be able to play in campaign in the Flight Experience sim anyway... requires too much time. But... I think FF5 looks way better than F4AF, and runs very well in TE. Sure it's not as realistic as Open Falcon, but then again, I don't think it will matter to customers who are not sim NUTS. AS others have said, Open Falcon also requires the original falcon CD, which is something against it since we're now 11 years down the track since its release. Not to mention that Open Falcon is a lot more effort to maintain.

(Sounds like I've got something against OF, I know. No such thing... just think it wouldn't be so great in this kind of business is all...)

FF5 isn't that good, it does have good MP compared to previous versions but OF is far more stable and has overall a better F-16 3d pit with 6dof. My own experiences with FF are that the graphics are nice(except for the F-16 pit) but its a huge step backwards in realism its main advantage is that in FF you can fly other aircraft each with their own pits. At the end of the day though F4 is an F-16 sim so you are still stuck with F-16 MFD modes etc. As for the TEs there are some good ones and you can launch off a carrier in a Hornet or Rafale but it is sort of missing some features especially if you compare it to FSX accelerations Hornet. Overall if I were to rank the F4 mods it goes like this:
Open Falcon
Falcon 4 Allied Forces
Free Falcon 5
As for the Falcon 4 CD you just need to know where to look there are plenty of copys floating about you only require the CD to install the mod not to run it. BTW there are some new sims on the horizon that will be close to Arenalogics F-16 in complexity I think DCS A-10C is going to be released sometime next year and the A-10C has very similar MFDs and Hotas to the F-16.

For those interested in installing Open Falcon everything you need can be found here:

http://www.f4support.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5475

For those interested in doing home pits particularly F-16 pits everything you can think of can be found here:
http://www.viperpits.org/smf/index.php

Another handy program:
http://www.ericdtaylor.com/FalconGauges3.0.zip

This is Falcon gauges and you can use it for pit instruments. Its possible to extract MFD onto a small LCD monitor(7") and mix that with TM MFDs you have working MFDs in the pit.

MFD extractor can be found here:
