Hi, i'm Daniel, i'm 17
I fly on FSX often, using Squawkbox on Vatsim.
I have several hundred hours online, I also have my ATC rating.
My callsign is often QFA103.

I'm looking at building a small virtual cockpit.

Well I finally got around to introducing myself, my name is Gavin. I have already meet some of the guys at our meet up last Winter in Tauranga.

I have finally got around to getting broadband(I like to be the last one to embrace new technology tongue.gif ) so I hope to contribute a lot more since I can finally download and view pages in a reasonable time frame.

I still use Fs9 where I have been reworking it with addons so it resembles an era when aviation was truly romantic mainly from time periods 1950 through to 1979. I have nearly finished an AI project which adds international airlines to NZ from the 1960-70s, with all other AI, Aircraft and Scenery predating 1979 (Apart from a few exceptions like Real NZ scenery).
Check this site out if your interested Classic airliners

I hope to make some concept scenery from this era like helidromes and rotor-stations through cites.

This is a great forum look forward to future reading

Hi NZFF,

first of all I hope you don´t mind welcoming new members from outside of NZ smile.gif
My name is Alex (33 years old from Germany) and I am a flight sim enthusiastic since FS2, acutally skipping some major releases and being active with the launch of FS9 again.

Furthermore I and am planning to move in the next few years with my family. As I am working for a software company (that is related to FS) I may switch to a job in NZ in the future.

As I love fying around both islands I just bought the FSX collection from Godzone and installed some basic FSX stuff I found of NZ (unfortunately there is not much). I am also an active IVAO pilot in Germany and would like to fly more in NZ (although we are 12 hours behind) so maybe we´ll meet online!

I mainly fly (offline) from Queenstown to Wannaka, Wellington to Rotorua, Auckland to POB or Te Anau to MT Cook

Welcome Alex! biggrin.gif

It seems that quite a few of the guys on here are from Germany. I also used to do a lot of simming on IVAO (194995), but haven't been on recently...

Alex

PS: Where was the picture of you taken in your post? I thought it might be the hobbit holes at Matamata, but I could be waaay off... unsure.gif

Hey Alex thumbup1.gif

You´re right, thats me in Bilbo´s hole at Matamata. It´s one of the big tourist attractions. I am so glad that the other LOTR locations are way off being commercial...

Ah yea... I'm not sure about that one. I would probably be interested if it looked similar to the way it did in the movie, but going to see some concrete/plywood holes in a hill? idea.gif

For some copyright reasons they were not allowed to remain the holes to look like in the movies...
Even the gardens are no longer there and some stuff was done in the studios in Wellington. But it was a magnetic place

Hi all, just found the forums so thought I wold join up..

My name is Jason, 35 yrs old and I like simming. Have been doing it off an on since the sublogic version on the commodore 64. I also sim on IL2 and a bit of motor racing as well.

Right now I have been doing a bit with FSX. I just purchased the flight1 cessna mustang and thought I would give that a go as my first jet. I would like to get online and try out some of the ATC but I haven't worried about ATC with my simming previously so I will do a little bit of reading before I jump online and frustrate ATC smile.gif

I have made various 'cockpit type' things in the past. The last one I did was this,
http://homepage.mac.com/jason.jane/temp/pn3l.jpg

It was a little too restrictive as I do like other types of simming as well.. I then did this which is easier to swap the yoke for a wheel or move it forward to put a stick on a pedestal between my legs.
http://homepage.mac.com/jason.jane/temp/pit1.jpg

Today I put together a 6" trim wheel using the guts of my old CH yoke. It was a quick job out of wood. If it all works out well then I will probably do it again with aluminium..

Anyway, happy to see you all and when I get around to some reading I will see you online.

Thanks,
Jason

thats pretty much why ive never gone hard out and built a simpit ,kinda fly to many types of AC to restrict myself in just one space and one view , i wanted to build a half heli half plane two seater modern look ,i just find that mite be doing the same thing though ..restricting myself ..
anyway mate enjoy the content

Hi, my name's David and I've been a regular viewer of NZFF for a while.

I have been interested in Flight Simulation since I bought Sublogic's FS1 for my first computer, a Radio Shack TRS80 way back in 1980.

Since then, I have have been running the various versions - FS3, FS4, FS5, FS95, FS2000, FS2004. Sadly, my PC can't run FSX and I can't afford to upgrade just yet.

Have been 'playing' around with X-Plane, just recently purchased 9.2, but my PC can't run that satisfactory either unless I want to fly in fog all the time. Nice software but MS still has ATC and Scenery.

The addons I have for FS2004 are FS Navigator, Active Camera and Squawkbox.
I have Windowlight's Godzone scenery for most of NZ, and have Christian Stock's old 75m mesh.

I'm no pilot but am interested in all things aviation, and am just content to fly flight simulators rather than the real thing. Have flown on VATSIM for a while, but it was all too serious for me.

Time to introduce,
My name is Pete, as with others I have just been reading and lurking.
I am 47, Kiwi owned and operated.

I love aviation but due to a condition I have, I am not medically fit to fly, so I do my crashing courtesy of Microsoft smile.gif
Been sim'ing offline or LAN since 2002 (well before that, but the Amiga don't compare). LOMAC Flaming Cliffs and FSX is my flavors of the decade.
Favorite FSX aircraft are in no particular order are the DHC2 and DHC6 from aerosoft, I just love the Canuck de Havillands. RealAirs's Spitfire Mk XIV, Any rotor wing but mainly aerosofts Seahawk / Jhawk. And last but not least Experimental Aircraft Works Sukhio Su-26 Aerobatic, man that thing is the hot rod of the gods. just awesome.

My 3 pieces of key equipment I wont sim with out are my HOTAS Cougar with CH pro pedals and TrackIR pro.

Ok I think I may have bored the heck out of ya's by now. I look forward to being part of this community and maybe one day actually fly online..

Cheers
Pete
Regards always

Hello,

Thought id introduce myself finally. My name is Tim and offically its Lt. Tim H callsign(AWACS) USCG, im a Para jumper and a and Hitron Pilot. Im my spare time and down time im also the Division CEO/CO of the Coast guard at Transload Virtual and am involved in VA SAR across the international community of the web. Im highly involved in getting nations Coast guard and SAR represented in FS via scenery and paints. Also recently getting into doing Videos and slideshows using combination of addons for FS9 and FSX thru the use of both sims. I do once in awhile fetish a flight in X-plane for giggles, but im not prying from FSX. The USCG offically list FSX as there main sim training engine over X-plane. My faverite spot in New Zealand to fly out of is Queenstown. Im still looking for FSX scenery for Queenstown.
