Thanks! But still no word from either Avsim.Com or Flightsim.Com on the copyright/file linking questions. Kind of crucial, really sad.gif

What's crucial exactly? We can create our own screenshots if need be, and if you can't link then just provide the filename?
BTW, was thinking, be nice to have a form so someone who's not an admin can submit/suggest a new item (maybe with some CAPTCHA widget to stop spammers) which might end up in some temporary state until an admin validates/approves the entry? I spose you already had that in mind, but just in case.

The "crucial" thing is the possibility of saving masses of time. There are *hundreds* of entries to search out, check links, write a description for. Not everyone (here on NZFF) will have all the add-ons installed, so screenshots may be a problem. Asking for/adding screenshots for huge numbers of items would be a labour of love winkyy.gif

It's be really handy to just copy both thumbnail + description from a couple of sources. Both of are usually provided by the repaint authors anyway, so there shouldn't really be a copyright problem. I's just that I'm not too happy to just grab stuff off other people's sites. I suppose just a filename and source website address could work - but then each user would have to login, search etc. etc. I think some servers are set up so they won't accept physical direct linking anyway - so the links thing may be a bit of a moot point.

Yes (thanks!) - I'd already started on a non-admin submission form (captcha protected) before I "downed tools". It's basically identical to the admin one, but just set to be inactive till admin approves it. People's spelling can be pretty erratic, so it'd be good to keep some sort of checking before they go live. The more the (non-admin) people can submit themselves, the easier the job will be for the admins.

I may just bite the bullet and go ahead - add stuff that I have on my system - and create my own descriptions. Play it by ear. rolleyes.gif

It's UP!! thumbup1.gif

www.nzfsim.org

There's no contact form or anything yet (and only those 3 test listings). You can still test the search/filter routines though - even with that limited set winkyy.gif

Comments/feedback here, please!

Would love to ... gimme some details winkyy.gif

I'll be working on the "add new" scripts soon - so I may as well be entering real stuff as I test. Currently I'm adding directly on the database (not good!).

Yep [NZ255] ... got it right ... Adam[ski] cool.gif

Well ... most of the work is now complete ... please take a look!!! Feedback welcome.

All we have to do now is add the gazillions of NZ aircraft!! plane.gif

If anyone wants to volunteer a bit of time to add data, please PM me. I think we'll all just be "nibbling away" at it (myself included), as Christmas is a way more exciting prospect winkyy.gif

Well spotted Batman! If you see any more, please make a note of the #number - visible in the whatsit bar when you mouse over the "Add a comment" link. I may just make it visible somewhere anyway - it'd makecorrections a lot easier to locate winkyy.gif
