I haven't seen any AI using anything but 16-bit DXT3 (including WOAI), not sure what Timmo is thinking of.

Any differences in the way the files are compiled/interpreted? I'm just *so much out of my depth here* laugh.gif

I was referring to models compiled with the FSX SDK.

I run my X while airport scenery testing with default AI i only get a drop of 2 flps ,i only have 3.0 p4 single core with 8600gts 256mb and 3 gig of ram ,,you cant really blame it being a X thing when you have scenery that could bring it to it knees just the same way as AI can ...
like whats been said if its not made with the FSX SDK then you are going to run in to problems with alsorts of factors effecting performance and FS9 and 2002 are the same ..
Charl has a super computer 8800gts and all the other parts that can run X no probs but sticks to 9 because he can run 9 with all its full setting AI included,, and if you had a computer that was lower end you would still have probs running clouds full / AI full etc in 9..
There really isnt anything different to the way the all MS flight sims have run over the years ,you still have to have the computer to match the performance you mite have been use to in the sim before and in the sim world you are always going to have to upgrade hardware over the sims life time ,this is the way that most gaming works ,and seeing flightsim is going to use every inch of performance out of every part of your PC what do you guys expect ...

FSX ? run lower settings because its got everything that 9 had but has just as much on lower setting and more ,you just need a PC to run it ,and these days it doesnt cost lots to buy a med puter to run it ..

in the flight sim world there is no such thing as Optimium Performance you will always be looking for more and more ,its like a avsim addiction where you have to have everything...

OK, I understood that, what are they, and who makes them?

Vista uses up a lot of memory.

Guys, Wouldn't Vista set up machine running XP be a rocket?

Maybe this is his option?
