A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

I just downloaded the red barron 75m mesh and activated it, flew from ohakea to wellington (not noticing a difference with mesh installed) and noticed houses flooding the airport. I deactivated the mesh to seee if it was the culprit and this hasnt solved anything. any ideas on what's gone wrong? im pretty darn sure they werent there before!

Weird, are you using FS9 or FSX? There should be a huge difference with the 75m mesh installed, was very noticeable on FS9 for me. Under FSX it may not be as obvious I guess.

Re the houses, sounds like you may have put the mesh higher up the order than your existing Wellington airport scenery? Try moving the Mesh down below your custom airports. Oh, and I assume you have restarted FSim right?

FSX. i tried moving it down and i did restart it sad.gif im deleting all of my scenery files now so that i can do a repair and reinstall the important things like AI and realnz wellington. hopefully this works otherwise im screwed!

Re: the mesh. scince it is for fs9, i installed it to my documents and copied the main file to microsoft games/flight simulator X and then activated it in-game. is this correct?

i found the problem. it was realnz wellington's fault but i fixed it (phew for backing up files!)

unfortunatly, the mesh stil isnt making any difference! it is in its own folder under program files/microsoft games/flight simulator x and then activated in game but nothing has changed from default. whats wrong?

ps, mods can move this topic if necissary

Didn't Toprob say somewhere that FSX already has 75m mesh?

that is what i thought too, that FSX ships with 75mtr mesh, but it seems that the red baron mesh is a little sharper better defined in the mountians and such, also works better around some airports too
In the ongoing battle between objects made of aluminum going hundreds of miles per hour and the ground going zero miles per hour, the ground has yet to lose.

something went weird. I fiddled with activating and moving up and down priority and it worked. not a huge difference but ohakea definatly isnt a desert anymore
