Yep good stab in the dark! There are currently airworthy the two Temora Spitfires (including the ex Alpine Fighter Collection one) and the two seater in Auckland (the Population is about to increase to four with the Feilding one due to fly before Christmas) - the only Hurricane is owned by the Alpine Fighter Collection.

Wohoo!

Ok my Question is: The FSX terrain system uses a modified version of the RQT algorithm.

a) What does RQT stand for?
b) Why did it need to be tweaked for FSX (i.e. What is a limitation of the standard RQT)?

(Im a terrain geek and yes, you can google winkyy.gif

Restricted Quad Tree

By design, the RQT and ROAM algorithms reduce triangle count in flat areas (good!)
When used with a “roundâ€￾ Earth, the RQT happily eliminates curvature over the ocean (not so good)

is this good enough??

The RQT algorithm, as published, is really intended for “flatâ€￾ Earth terrain where the sea level elevation reference is assumed to be an infinite plane. Since Flight Simulator models the Earth’s curvature, we had to modify the algorithm a bit. The main problem is that the unmodified RQT tends to eliminate nearly all the mesh vertices over large open expanses of ocean which it interprets as being completely flat. The solution is to increase the error metric for each point in the mesh by the height of the Earth’s curvature above the line connecting the point’s opposite neighbors. The result is an increase in the error metric roughly proportional to the distance to its neighbors. The larger the error metric, the less likely a point will be eliminated from the triangulation. This helps preserve the Earth’s curvature in large areas with the same elevation.

Is this good enough?? Googled, copied and pasted. rolleyes.gif

The idea is to have questions that you cant Google and have an answer in 5 seconds guys winkyy.gif I think they generally have to be NZ-related too, I got told off for it a while back.

I knew that bout the A-4's before, but i know what you mean V.A.C.

RULES:
1. You post the next question if you get the answer right.
2. You may not answer for 3 goes when you get it right
3. If no-one gets it within 3 days, you must post something that someone can get right

I think of those three rules, the only one that actually applies is #1.
