Expecting Hurricane force winds in the North Island - might try a flight in RW weather later - should be fun!

Have taken all my outdoor furniture into the garage just in case

Looks like it could be interesting biggrin.gif
Might have to get some stuff outside and put it inside.
The QF flight to Rotorua has already been cancelled -looks like it was the weather.

All the best for all in the brunt of the storm.

I will fly some realtime weather also this afternoon, maybe in the baron.

Should be challenging.

Absolutely laugh.gif just low cloud and drizzle today tongue.gif

Doing a flight out of Auckland on IVAO with ActiveSky...The FSPax weren't too pleased about it...heavy rain, wind, and a heap of turbulence! Seems to be settling down now we're over the Oceanic Airspace winkyy.gif

Oh this storm thing.
I've heard a lot about it, it rained today and was a bit windy here but nothing as bad as I've heard predicted.
Maybe tomorrow will be worse for us?
There better be a proper storm in Rotorua now, after all this fuss. winkyy.gif

There's a lot of people in Northland who wouldn't appreciate your thoughts........

Count your blessings.

It looked pretty bad up north on the news winkyy.gif
It's gusting pretty hard outside now and the rain is off and on.

It's coming down the island ... Just spoke to a few people in Waihi with missing roof bits and pieces, and roads in and out are blocked due to floods/trees/slips. Windy and a bit of rain in Tga at the moment - wind is picking up though :|

TV1 and 2 are still out here on the TVs that use the standard aerial, Freeview's ok.

I'd say it's due to a problem with the Te Aroha transmitter. It serves TV1 and 2 to the Waikato BOP, TV3 and 4 comes from Welcome Bay (Kopukairua) for Tauranga and Ruru (dunno where that it, Cambridge area?) for Hamilton. I used to fix TV's and install aerials tongue.gif

The storm wasn't so bad here after all. All my garden furniture is still there!

Gusts to 90kts were reported at "Now casting" wind service for Channel Is off Coromandel Pens and Tiritiri matangi off Whangaparoa pens.
No a good day for flying.

It seems that the storm has passed Rotorua ok.
There is a bit of damage with the trees and a few things have been blown over.
It was really windy last night but right now it is really calm.

Thought it'd be interesting to see what effects such a HUGE storm would produce in FS, so started a flight NZWR - NZNE.
NZ can produce really exciting and spectacular RW weather in the sim, but this wasn't one of those occasions.
What a let down...sure the wind was strong, saw 50 kts at one point, but just a featureless flat grey cloud layer at maybe 6,000ft plus rain.
Landing at North Shore just involved some crabbing and a watchful eye for gusts
(Mossie is a stable platform...wonder if there's a topic where I can't squeeze in a sceenshot of it?)

Thought I'd post the screen last night, when frzt...bzst! No Power...
It's calamitous in our household when there is no power.
There is also no water, no movies, no phone (unrelated but co-incidental with almost every power outage) hence no internet, no computer games, no Sky TV.
You can't actually read by candle light either.
We ended up in a heated family discussion over Who's the Next Prime Minister, by candle light...weird.

I was hoping the power would go out ... had my gas lamp, gas cooker, fluro lights and was ready to hook the inverter up to the car to run some lights and the router so we could watch YouTube and some DVDs on the laptop. Was going to be quite the adventure I thought. The family thought I was mad!

Yep it got decently windy and rainy last night.
There was a powercut at around midnight for some of Rotorua.
Nothing major happened down my street or even in my suburb except for the normal surface flooding we get when it rains.

There's another lot going to arrive late Tuesday and continue through Wednesday. Winds shouldn't be as strong, but some very heavy rain forecast.
