Sorry folks, the Auckland team never made it to Tauranga as there was no way we could cross the Kaimai Ranges due to thick low cloud... we were forced to turn back and went for a scenic flight around the good ole' City of Sails instead (pics to follow).

We were all pissed off that we couldn't make it this time around, and decided we must hold another meetup again, either in the summer, or locally at Ardmore so bad weather won't be able to stop us from arriving! tongue.gif

Hope everyone else is having a good time as I write this, I look forward to hearing how it went.

Good flying mate, better safe than sorry.

Lost a couple of friends due to bad weather and pushed it a bit myself. I was lucky!

Glad the sight seeing was good though. But any flight always is.

Hope I can make ardmore.

cheers

Yeah... sorry guys sad.gif According to the forecasts and online ATIS etc... it should have been sweet as... TG was FEW at 3000'!??! and the area forecast looked OK...

One of the instructors has advised that next time, I should try the 'Colville Gap'... up towards the northern tip of the Coromandel Peninsula... a bit further to go up and around, but should be passable.

To rub salt into the wound, I was hanging around the club this afternoon around 1630... and watched one of the bayflight aircraft (KID) do a Touch+Go.... so obviously this arvo it had cleared enough for them to come over dry.gif rolleyes.gif

I hope you got some enjoyment out of our tiki tour... I had a good time (I usually do when flying winkyy.gif)... but personally I am a bit bummed to have missed the sim ride... I had even been practicing the heavy metal on FSX! sad.gif

Apologies to the Daniel and Naki... and the Flight Experience guys... thx for all the organisational efforts... hope you all had fun!

Oh no, that's not good. Speaking of next meetup-howbout Classic Fighters 09? It's sort of in the middle of the country, and hardly ever has bad weather.

Hey Guys,

It was a shame the Auckland guys couldn't come down.
It looks like there might be another meet possibly at Tauranga again in the summer.
We had a great day down there and it was good to get to meet everyone.
We forgot to take a group photo pirate.gif tongue.gif
Thanks for organising it Naki thumbup1.gif

Cheers
Daniel

PS. Your flying in the sim was awesome Naki thumbup1.gif tongue.gif

Sounds like it was a good day.
People that were there will know that I didn't end up going - I was in Tauranga anyway but we had a family thing. I managed to convince my mum to let me go to it and even got out to the airport, but she said she thinks it's important for us to see relatives we never see. rolleyes.gif

Hopefully if we have another one at TRG in the summer or one at another time then I'll be able to make it.

Pity about the AKL guys not making it down.

Hey Guys- here are some pics from our flight- Mostly of the tiki-tour we did of the CBD before heading back to land. Was good to meet Andrew, Hayden and Jared and put some names to faces.

After intense peer pressure, HCP decided to give in and go inverted winkyy.gif
