Tauranga NZFF Meet @ Classic Flyers Museum

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby Naki » Wed Jul 02, 2008 3:53 pm

Okay - The Classic Flyers board room ("The Armoury") is booked at 12:00 noon to 4:00pm for Sunday 13th July. There are plenty of aviation books and aircraft models (including Alfasharks) to gawk at plus of course there is the Classic Flyers Museum and the Military Museum around the corner plus the Flight Experience 737 sim is also around the corner. Details here of the Classic Flyers Museum. You will need to pay to get into the Classic Flyers Museum but the board room is free. There is also a cafe on site for food/coffee/beer etc. SEE YOU THERE! plane.gif

Yeah that would be good if you can organise something.

..and I must apologise I really stuffed up - the maker of all that great freeware scenery - Lawrie (snowman) cant make it as he is working (as he usually does on Sundays). sad.gif I think its a bit late to change now unfortunately

Hey Guys

Just talked to Flight Experience and they have given a reduced rate of $45 for about 15 mins in the sim. This includes a Take Off, Circuit and Landing.
Not sure if anyone is interested at this rate but it is normally about $135 for half an hour. This is in the 737 NG sim.
PM me if you are interested. As for a local flight I will continue to search for options.

Cheers
Daniel

Unfortunately,......... thats right. Sunday is the first day of my workweek. Friday and Saturday are my weekend.
Im sure there will be other times somewhere along the line for a meet, where it will be nice to put faces to names of people i havnt met.

Pity you can't come Lawrie.
I guess at this stage I'll see everyone there, hopefully my plans don't change.
Should be great.

FYI,

1 Pilot + 2 Pax + 4 Seater = 1 spare seat...

I am planning on flying over from NZAR with Timmo and Trolly, so if anyone is interested in being a 4th from NZAR to NZTG, send me a PM...

Current Plan:
Sun 13th am- Depart NZAR around 1000... arriving NZTG around 1100
Sun 13th pm- Depart NZTG around 1630... arriving NZAR around 1730 (so we're back before ECT)

Aircraft:
Have booked LMA (PA28-180)...

Cost share:
Somewhere around $80-$100 ($205/hr x 1.5 - 2hrs + landing/airways split 4 ways)...

Backup:
If weather looks marginal, I am just going to drive over... as I cannot afford to get stuck in TG (got work on monday sad.gif)

cheers,
Jared

Good stuff, I'll knock up a poster and bulk mail it out to everyone.

Just need to know one thing first- what is the entry fee into the Classic Flyers Museum? I couldn't find it on the website.

Cheers!

Perhaps... not sure on the scenic routes around Tauranga, being controlled airspace and all... but can probably fly up the cost towards Waihi Beach and back again... or along the coast towards Whakatane or something...

LMA goes at $205/hr... so if we get 4 on board, its about $50/hr each + airways/landing fees (which for TG is something really small like $16, considering I have to pay $20 at NZAR and don't even get a controller!?!!?!?)

I wonder how far it is out to White Island? winkyy.gif

I understand that its about 27mile to white island from Whakatane. As for the scenic (I'm a student out of TG) we could talk before hand and organize something, it's all fairly simple around TG one option could be just to "Operate Matakana sector" or similar, putting together scenic flights is just a matter of taking a look at ya VNC's and/or AIP's eg"LMA requests taxi to track Omokoroa then onto Hunters Creek, via the coast down to Papamoa have your Delta 1013 4 on board" or something along those lines
