Discovered the Maddog

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

I have owned the Maddog sim "Fly the Maddog" for quite a while but hadn't used it until recently.
I am really loving this simulation. I believe it has to be one of the most realistic simulations that I have and I'm really enjoying it.
I usually like to sim with TrackIR in a fully functional 3d cockpit, but this Maddog is so detailed that I like it even though it has only a 2d cockpit.
Now they have announce that they are about to release a fully functional and detailed 3d cockpit within a month or two.
For me that will make this absolutely the best airline sim available. I am very excited about it.

I also purchased the "Learn the Maddog". A three hour DVD which goes over in detail all of the systems and procedures for the Maddog and also gives a lot of tips on operating the sim more smoothly. I got it in the mail last week and have really been enjoying it. It is packed with information about the MD82 and the Maddog Sim.

Here I've had this simulation sitting idle for probably a year and now I'm just enjoying the heck out of it.

Has it been anyone else's experience to buy a sim and just put it away for a long time, then break it out and find it is a treasure?
A lot of times I will buy something for FS and not install it right away. Then rediscover it several months later. It is a lot of fun to find something like that.

I'm getting ready to take off in it now but here are some screen shots that I took from the other night.

Erm, FS9...
I also have a DC9 sitting on the shelf, waiting for a rainy day to learn all those steam gauges...

I have the Carenado Piper Dakota II sitting on my desktop doing a lot of nothing - got to try and find time to take it out for a spin! :plane:

I've got a bunch of them still on the shelf.

I just bought Flight1 Fokker-100, which looks like a real nice aeroplane. Also have a DC9 and Flight 1 727 and a bunch of GA planes.
The ones that I've been using are this Maddog MD-82, Flight 1 Super 80, PMDG 747 and 737, Ariane 737-900x, Level D 767, Cpt. Sim 757 and a little Texan that I got from IRIS. :plane:
