.AF textures

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

I want to make some, in a scenery I downloaded, transparent.
How do I go about doing this.
I know with dxt .bmp yu can create a green alpha for a .bmp but what do I do with a .af texture?

OMG that is an old format. It is an original FS95 bitmap I think, or maybe FS98. You need to convert it using something like imagetool. Imagetool came with the gmax fs2002 game pack but not sure wherer to get it now.

.af format is simply an extended .bmp. Check Martin Wright's site for a tool such as bmp2000 (and read the bmp White Paper).

In Auckland 2005, that EMB-110 is annoying me thus I want it gone but since it is in .*af format I don't know how to edit it and make it transparent. I can't figure out how to do that with bmp2000. Does anyone have solution.

You can create an exclude file with FSSC and place it in a higher layer than your Auckland scenery. This works with all static objects at Auckland but not Whenuapai, at Whenuapai they only turn white.

Its been many years since I played around with *.af files - I thought you could change the extension to *.bmp and edit them, then change back.
