Sun Texture

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby ardypilot » Tue Feb 12, 2008 3:51 pm

After months of experiementing with different texture sets, I've pretty much got my sim enviroment set up exactly how I like it, apart from one thing- this ugly sun texture:

I've got a 'virgin' unmodified fs2004 installed on another computer and wish to copy the original sun textures back to my main sim but don't know which files do what. I've already copied the following files back into my main texture folder, but it didn't make any difference:
'sunglow.bmp'
'sun.bmp'
'sun6.bmp'

My suneffect.cfg is the same as it ever was:
[general]
SunSize=900
MoonSize=2072
SunTexture="sun.bmp"
LensFlareCount="10"
RenderCorona="1"
RenderGlow="1"
RenderMoonCorona="1"

So can anyone help? Small things like this really annoy me during my sim flights!

You might want "corona1.bmp", it's in the same folder

Knew I'd forgot something, but sadly, after another copy and paste, it doesn't change the appearance of the sun.

Do the 'env_dawn.bmp' and 'env_midsun.bmp' etc files have anything to do with the sun? What about 'envmap.bmp' and 'halo.bmp' ?

halo.bmp changes runway lights, among other things in the sim. May change sun as well, but not sure... ;)

Try Brian Neitzel's alternative textures, they would surely improve on what you've got.

Hmm random, I loaded up my sim for the first time in a few days and my sun was back to default how I like- problem sorted although I don't know how! Thanks to all those who helped me out.
