OZ and NZ Flight Sim Store

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Hi GUys,

i am just trying to gauge interest, i am looking at starting an online store to start with focusing solely on Flight simulator products, software add ons etc, would anyone be interested as a sort of one stop shop, i am not sure how easy or hard it will be (strill researching at this stage) i would like to have in the long run boxed software, download software, hardware and the such, even custom built computers eventually. as i said i am just gaugeing interest and see if it would get support, i know there are shops around that supply this or that, but i would like to try to get it all in one place, i would be offering credit card and bank deposit as potential payment methods. thanks for your feedback, good or bad!!

Jason

In the ongoing battle between objects made of aluminum going hundreds of miles per hour and the ground going zero miles per hour, the ground has yet to lose.

Excellent idea - had thoughts of this myself but not sure how big the market is - although I guess it is growing and you see the odd request on this forum for stuff which you don't seem to get in the stores here - not sure about Aussie though.

Only thing is Prices- There are already a few stores around like this such as PC Aviator, Downunder Pilotshop etc etc. These guys stock everything at the Wrong Price. As these are well known companies, you would have to be offering very good prices in comparison to these guys, which may not be possible.

This is something I've looked at pretty closely (it was meant to be the other half of Godzone when I started up two years ago.) However there were a couple of stumbling blocks -- freight and GST. Both add a lot more than you'd think, so that it is actually cheaper for users to buy from overseas. For most FS products, when you buy just one, you won't pay GST.
Having said that, I think there is a place for a physical FS store -- the folk who shy away from purchasing online tend to want to see stuff before they buy it.
