Yip Bede nose wheel collapsed, and the SE5 stalled in a very low and slow turn near the ground.

Can't have a cold war without a little spying....... ninja.gif

Wow KYB that second shot is nicely framed...
That is one heavily stickered air_plane, by the time those Navy Drivers had read all the disclaimers, the MiiGs would've flown by!

Auckland certainly is getting some attention too, tank farm flattened, wonder what the Hinds were up to?
Russian Mafia visitng the Sky City Casino cash tills maybe?

And great find, Ian, that Cargomaster is a lot bigger than I thought, payload 2.5x a Herkie bird!
It is a bit funny looking, with the Pinnochio thing out front, but the view from the captain's seat must've been like a ship's bridge.
Never saw one flying, must've been quite a sight, with a Minuteman in its belly, who'd know?

Was half expecting to see a binnacle in there somewhere! laugh.gif I believe there were some structural issues surrounding the C-133 later in it's life if I remember correctly although possibly I'm thinking of something else.

I was at that irshow in Auckland - the Harrier, Il-76 and the A40 were awesome as was Tim's warbirds.

Love the old Globemaster pamphlet Ian - where did you get that? My father saw one of these in action at an Airshow in Ohakea (1964 I believe - actually I have the airshow programme (i have few of these) I will have to check it out and confirm) Didn't know there was a FS model of it.

Awesome shots Koyunbaba! My dad had an old plastic kit of the Phantom with simliar markings (which I subsequently wrecked when I was younger).

Fauville - I know the ASB chopper pad well! I worked in that building for a few years & have been on the pad a few times.

Right...from left field, a homegrown, er, more correctly, locally resident, Cold War Era Aircraft (Some would disagree with the term)
Been going strong for over 50 years.
Here seen at Woodburne in company of some of its slightly younger brethren.

This is a NZFF exclusive paint for the Jean-Marie Mermaz Bell 47G.
Still good after all these years, flies in FS2002, FS2004, FSX.
Ten minutes after I uploaded the pic, I noticed a better RNZAF repaint here but looks to be for FS2002.
Ah well, she flies beautifully, and the VC is like a fish bowl so is a great way to view the scenery.

Here;s a bird that would fly nicely off a carrier, but of a slightly earlier era....

Takes a bit of work to slow this one down

FV, love that Corsair, it has the meanest snout...
Amazing how that whole wing tilits for landing, someone on the design team just said one day: "What the hell, this'll NEVER work, whyn't we just rotate the whole Dam' thing??"
Saw a Greek AF one buzz the HMS Ark Royal in the Med years ago, not sure it was scheduled as there was no-one left visible on the flattop afterward.
Glad to see you've sorted out Photobucket, too!

Ian, she's a stately old lady and your shots do her proud.
CV65 - would've thought a Tomcat or 2 might be topsides?
Scrolling down, I thought: "He's gonna do it, he's gonna do it!"
But NO! there are old pilots and bold pilots, no old+bold...
Do you insert the carrier for each flight?

Its a Crusader Charl smile.gif - the Corsair came later (the Greeks use these) and was a bit stumpier and slower and more of an attack aircraft. The French Navy and the Philipines Air Force were the only users of the Crusader outside the US Navy whilst the Corsair was used by the US Navy, Air Force and the Thai Navy and Portuguese and Greek Air Forces (some still in service I believe).

icon_redface.gif Errps, I got my Crusairs crossed.
Next I'm going to hear from "Wingman" that CVN65 didn't carry any Turkeys...

The F-8's tilting wing was such overkill, there were a few takeoffs made with folded wings (importantly, followed by a successful landing)
The derivative A-7 Corsair didn't have the tilt, was slower, and heavier, and was the Skyhawk successor, hard to believe more diverse philosophies
(Pilot quote: "the Corsair is not very fast, but it sure is slow")
Trivia: A Corsair fired the last recorded shot in anger over SE Asia
