Nope for the fleet replacement...long term. In the short term just one a month, then up to 3 a month towards the end. Hence why the rest of the 172 with G1000's were canned.

The rumours are true... Saddlebags has confimed the Skycatcher for the fleet replacement

I really do think your talking a lot of shi* here, somehow I dont think AFS would make this decision overnight, and considering I was there last on Thursday and there was a staff meeting on Wednesday, nothing was confirmed then..... There was talk of Cessna wanting a few at AFS to train the kiwi buyers of these a/c...... but that hasnt been confirmed....

If you dont mind me asking, who was it that informed you the AFS was getting these.... Surely it came from C. Hunter, or even E. Needham seems your so adamant it is happening.....

And also have a hopeless usefull load, 400lbs (or so) usefull, so that equates to a student, instructor and 20lbs of gas? not good when you get a student with an instructor over 190lbs each

the specs document on the cessna website claims 490lbs (222.3Kgs)... which is not sooo bad... its only around 30 or 40lbs less than a 152...

But keeping in mind when the 152 was designed as a training aircraft, people were somewhat lighter than they are today.....

After speaking to Cessna about it (in NZ demoing a caravan - nice ship !) recon it's an awesome little beast. They've really hit the nail on the head. The industry has been without a suitable trainer replacement since the early 80s and all those machines (C152s, terrorhawks, AA1s etc) are still in sevice as tired old rags. Some places have had to keep em going and others have had to bite the bullet and spend rediculas money on bigger (less suitable) machines like the 172, pa28 etc. This thing is modern and up with the times. Although it may look ugly to some people, those people are the ones used to 30-40yr old designs, its the 21st centery mate !!!! I think its the way to go having the standard glass cockpit, roomy cabin, the new cont O-200 and all the other features that people have wanted over the last 25 years. It is right now going through riggerous testing and thrashing to see how it handels up to training enviroment where various changes will be made to make it the right machine. And at around $180k nz you cant get better value for money winkyy.gif (Considering that that is about the same price of a useless little tincan)

It may not be in production untill 2009, but there is already a flight sim version up on Avsim today:

Cessna's new Light Sport Aircraft, announced in July 2007 and due for initial delivery in 2008. This FSDS model for FS2004 is based on pictures of the aircraft shown at Oskosh and in Cessna's brochures. Designed primarily as an AI aircraft, (which gives me an excuse for the lack of detail ;-) the flight characteristics were developed using Gerry Beckwith's AirWrench and closely approximate those published by Cessna. Several LOD models and a reduced detail shadow are incorporated, as well as all the usual basic animations, including control surfaces and suspension.

Get it here: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=...CatID=fs2004aia
