I think its interesting that Emirates came out with a "Flight Convience" score higher than Air New Zealand (in the paper).

How can an airline that has two international routes out of NZ be more convienient than an airline that has at least 20 times more? <_< (Unless of course if everyone wants to fly direct to Dubai - then its more convienient)

perhaps people were thinking of some other convenience? not sure how that would work though
In the ongoing battle between objects made of aluminum going hundreds of miles per hour and the ground going zero miles per hour, the ground has yet to lose.

Emirates are quite cheap if you wish to fly to Europe, just remember if you fly with them theres no alcohol and also DON'T BUY DUTY FREE IN DUBAI or any of those other countries in the middle east.

Exactly what I said when I read the paper this morning.
No doubt Emirates is a better airline (at least from what I understand- come to think of it, i've only ever flown with AirNZ, QF & Ansett), but more convenient flights? That result alone pretty much writes off the entire validity of the survey.

People from their own countries always bag their flag carrier:
A similar survey by Australian consumer magazine Choice last week saw Qantas rated as the worst international airline by 4000 readers.

Which is why you need objective measure, like skytrax.

Recently some friends of mine flew to Europe with Emirates and had a stop over in Dubai. The duty free was open and the people on the flight bought stuff in the shops. Upon reboarding the aircraft everything bought was then handed over as it wasn't allowed on the plane. There was no signs or any indication to the passengers to not purchase duty free and essentially alot of upset passengers got ripped off as what they had bought was then taken off them.
