Met up with a great guy called David (he says hi Choppernut, friend of yours I believe). He took me 'behind the ropes' so to speak and revealed this...

What is it? This my freinds is a real live Mosquito, I got lots of shots of this, the DAK and Viscount, along with a Harvard and Hudson Bomber. I will post more if people are interested. David gave me incredible access so all my thanks to him for the tour, the chance to take photos and the incredible sharing of knowledge. It was amazing to be able to get close to all three, run my hands over the fuselage skin and in the case of the Mosquito, wonder at the incredible engineering involved to bring this plywood aircraft to life. One thing is to read about these aircraft, its something else to stand before them.

Was also great to meet and spend some time with Jimmy today.

Nice photos Jon, I worked at Ferrymead when I was living in CHC. Its good to see the Viscount has been reassembled and the LC-47 has had some progress made on it. What was the status of the Vampire and the H500? Dave is quite an interesting guy aye. Its is a real enthusiests paradise around there.

Yes please more Mossie, Harvard and Hudson shots. The Viscount is looking good - by the way the Heron here in Tauranga has the NAC scheme complete - very similar to the Viscount

Another very interesting collection Jon- whats with that DC-3 front end? Is it just me or is it really pointy  Were they modified specially for antartic conditions or something, and does she still have a reg?

Was also great to meet and spend some time with Jimmy today.

Great to see so many people from here meeting and greeting each other in real life- we should organise a big event sometime! :P

That's the first of seen of that Viscount, I presume it's only intended for static display, or am I mistaken?

Yeah, static only. Was in Ashburton today looking over the freindship, thats static as well. Both aircraft are fully complete with interrior (most of it in the case of the freindship) and complete cockpits.
