Ditto that, nothing wrong with the model but I can't generate excitement about it.
It sits on the hard drive.
Funny because when the POSKY 757 was new, it was my default aircraft.
I concocted a 2D panel lightyears ahead of its time - pushback, callouts, rollout stats, FSDX announcement panel etc etc.

This is going to sound off the wall, but I don't like the brand name Captain Sim.
It's just so ...cheesy, reminds me of a little tugboat going Toot, toot
And I believe it rubs off on the model experience (holds for the Legendary C130 too which I thought over-hyped).
I'm happy to be shot down about this though

The one thing that puts me off captain Sim is the fact that they want your money so much. For example, at this stage the C-130 FSX patch is going to cost to upgrade - we're paying to get their product to work!

That said, the aircraft made are generally high quality, especially the exterior models

As it happens, I was writing to Captainsim, asking if they would like to sponsor our next month's screenie comp, which they agreed too (sorry Charl), they replied asking me if I would like to review any of their products. I choose the B757 as the RNZAF have one B)

Seriously though, it's probably got to do with expectation.
I couldn't wait to get my hands on the C130 - it has amazing features, but I still think there's an issue with the exterior model (I have selected the lo-shine version, monkey).
Look at this, Capsim in the foreground, Dax paint (which incidentally is spot-on, it's the model shine that's wrong) compared with Steve Jenks-painted HTAI C130:



It irritates me to the point that I don't want to look at it, and so it lurks in the dark recesses of the HDD

Well military aircraft generally aren't painted in shiny colours.
This helps them to avoid being shot down.

Look at the real thing here, then look at the screenshot above, back here, then back there.
Now tell me you still like the chrome look.

Well, I know it's not realistic, but IMO it looks very good in screenshots.

mmm that don't look to bad trolly, the view angle in the VC looks a bit odd, I have noticed that in quite a few screenshots of it. But prety good looking textures.

What kind of fps do you get with that aircraft? As far as I know its a real frame killer, as with all captainsim stuff I see you have all your scenery turned down, personaly id rather have a average aircraft plus good scenery than a good looking aircraft and a cr@p world out side, cos theres alot more world outside than aircraft.

yes glosy shiny paints look imp[resive and nie in the sim, but certainly not realisitic...look nice thow

Not always possible, but the alpha channel is there to control the 'shine' on a lot of models.

alpha channel is where I get off the repaint wagon - I just do colours and numbers!

Trolly I see there is room to do stuff to the alpha in DXTbmp, I've only ever used it to create a new channel if textures don't show up!

Maybe Jenks and others could open a small discussion thread on the mysteries of the alpha channel and how to manipulate it.

Just an idea 

Look at the Andover last friday walking across the ramp, chatting , mention the condition off the dull worn look , any LOW-VIS paint looks polished when completed for a couple of weeks MAX and thats it ! ..after .. they look dirty and meshy and well used (generally to last 5 yrs) , airliners have there big carwash's or at YSSY 2 people running around washin 74 in 2 day's in special scaffold type build'in , oversized carwash Guessin since Dax works on these aircraft world wide , guess he's looking at a factory finish , If in Charge, i would want to sign the plane out in pristine condition .
