This evening I did a quick flight from Nelson to Karamea, not in a 172 but an F-86 Sabre! I tried this flight the opposite way last night in FS9, but it didn't turn out so well (I got completelylost ). Shots taken in FSX, and with different lighting to the real-life flight.

Looking through the hills, I'll be flying through here.


Turning to fly via the Karamea River, currently above the Rolling lands. In the 172 we passed south of these, but the bigger radius of turn means we're over them.

On the left there is the bit of terrain I got a bit close to yesterday. No worries, just don't go any closer is what my instructor was probably thinking!

In the 172 we went over these hills, through the gap to the left...no need for that in this aircraft!

Finals. This was quite easy to handle on approach compared to an F-16!

Touchdown, nice and smooth on the runway.

Unfortunately the F-86 doesn't have very pronounced short-field characteristics, so regrettably I ended up hitting the water at the end of the runway at 50 knots

What are your average fps? That autogen is so dense looking, the whole thing looks amazing, I can't have any autogen on my system witch is so simerily powerd, hmmm lol

Yeh well, in FS9 I did it in the 172 but when I got lost I gave up and just did some half-assed aeros in it...at least this time if I get lost the aeros can look okay! (Alternatively I could climb over the hills and go direct, but where's the fun in that?).

Oh and BTW, in a 172 it's only 35 minutes one-way- it's only 50nm. And the advantage with going VFR (and being in a 172) is you can go nice and low and see all the scenery really good.

I got about 11fps, which is fine for me in FSX

Sure is Trolly. Though this particular repaint doesn't look all that good on it compared to some others IMO.
