PC Pilot magazine

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby JonARNZ » Sun Mar 04, 2007 7:31 pm

I picked up a copy of the latest edition of PC Pilot magazine at the Auckland domestic terminals Whitcoulls this afternoon, big articles and reviews of FSX, DVD on the cover, lots of free stuff as usual and some very interesting, and I am sure to be controversial performance results, when they put FSX up against FS9.

The 'following' issue has been out here for a week or two (it's bi-monthly) - I'll try to remember to pack one tomorrow!

If anyone in Christchurch wants to find it, you can get it from "canterbury mags" in cashel mall. I have a couple of copies lying around the house. Not a bad magazine. Guys like us can usually find payware reviews, downloads etc for free on the web, and the price is pretty steep (in chch anyway)

kool, thats right across from my school, is it $20 in there? How many pages is the magazine, I don't know if id be prepared to pay that much for a smallish mag that I could practicly read on the interent, altough actuly haveing printed pages is nicer...

The FSX special is 100 pages A4. A normal issue is 86 pages. Here it costs £4.99 (=NZ$14), which includes the cover CD/DVD. My experience has been that all UK magazines available in NZ (and there's a lot of them) get a hefty markup, doubly so if you can find "this month's" :o

Personally I rate PC Pilot higher than Computer Pilot.

Now, whether you want to pay the premium is up to you. ;)

Well I just poped across to canturbury magazines and brought it (man I love this being in the city for school :P ) $20.50 for the fsx mega issue one,the woman in the shop said theres the "ship and the air freight" the air frieght one was 26buks so would have been the lateest one, no way I was gana pay that much!

But im prety pleased with it, sadly iv read reviews of most of the stuff theyr reviewing along time ago in the computerpilot mag! but then again a second opinion is always good, I liek the tutorials in there to...

I download PC Aviator magazine (US produced) via their website, for US$4.95 an issue in pdf format.

Re PCPilot magazine, I think that this is also available in the Borders shop in Riccarton, seem to remember seeing it on sale there too.

Smooth landings.

The Mustang is pretty good as well, nice sound set with it, no 2D panel but full VC.

The Mustang looks like Warick Carters which is freeware whilst the 152 is Just Flights which is payware.

There is some freeware, patches for a few payware products and some payware stuff that you can buy then "unlock" save having to download..

Well I just tried the dvd and my dvd drive just continued to make funny noises and nothign happend, so I tried it in my laptop (a apple macbook I got for school :P ) and that made funny noises and spat it out....

My dvd drive is a dual layer reader too...
