i disagree with that g-hevn because you may not know this but the orion can fly on 2 engines no worries they often do it out ofer the sea apparantly new zealand as the record for the longest patrol which was about 16 hours i think i remember correctly of by the top of my head lol but they often fly on 2 engines out over sea cause it saves fuel and they can fly for a longer time. so hopefully you have learnt something new today lol

Blimey, what will they think of next? Aeroplanes without propellors, I'll be bound.... ;)

(you're right, I didn't know that!)

I'd go along with two props quite happily...

...but they really ought to be feathered to reduce drag... ;)

Whilst the Orion can fly on two engines it is not standard practice. In the 70's 5 Sqn did set a record by flying for around 22 hours in a P3 which required 2 engines to be shut down.
During normal operations on Patrol which may be 8 - 12 hours they will only shut down one engine. This is usually #1 engine as it does not have a generator or EDC (compressor for the aircon), and as stated it will be feathered to reduce drag !!!

On another similar note I have seen a picture of a C130 hercules ( Lockheed test piloted) doing a flypast on ONE engine only - now thats gutsy !!!

I'm not so sure... 17 years of the real thing, fixing army flying things... Not too keen on all those "military" shots with "guns firing, rockets flying" - which is why I am thinking "paint"

Thanx Chris ..... But as the Aussie tourist TV Advert would say .. " WERE THE HELL ARE YA " :)

Deane

Flying the Capsim C-130 straight and level while trying to get the ramp down and the camera shot not of the ceiling
PLUS
fighting the Orion whose blades would not feather no matter what, and whose induced drag had the airspeed down to stall+.0000001kt
AND
framing the picture so you didn't catch a big handful of sky
BUT MOST OF ALL
Being in a hurry to beat Naki to the draw...
I was reminded too late of my own post long ago

(scroll down page)
and THAT's the shot I was trying to make!
Cut me a little slack here and I'll make it all up to you B)

Well, its says nothing about file types or picture sizes in the rules, so as long as it has something to do with "Military" it should be fine. :)
