Try this Kelburn site http://www.irissimulations.com/news.php  they have posted some ex-payware :)

I'd like to buy some payware traffic utils that will populate the skies around NZ. I've tried project AI. which isn't bad, and was wondering if anyone has anything better to suggest? For example, does Ultimate traffic provide anythng better?

Grumble, go have a look at the GNZLAP forum on the forum list.

$6000-$7000= Scenery
roughly $4000-$5000 in acft
and
$2000 of pedals, yoke, stick and goflight stuff

But that's Light AI. I think Grumble was looking for something heavier...

I used to use Ultimate Traffic (still do in FS9) but the models are hideously crude yet still hungry of frames. In FSX I'm experimenting with 'World of AI' freeware. Much nicer, but significantly less of it than, say, UT. And as yet they don't seem to have an AirNZ package (they have Qantas, but not sure of the coverage) VOZ also have a Qantas AI package, although I haven't tried it.

VOZ AI has all the major Austrailan and New Zealand airlines (and some charter and freight airlines) and highly recommend it.

G-HEVN - see that you have the Eaglesoft Liberty and SR-20 - what do you think of them?

Cheers

Once, when I was more highly paid, I was on the "expression of interest" list with Liberty. Ultimately I decided the plane was way overpriced for what amounted to an overgrown Europa microlight (you may or may not know, the Liberty design is actually based on the Europa), but for a two seater with limited baggage capacity they were asking £120,000! I could get a brand new 4-seat Cessna 172 for less! (btw, I was only going to buy a share in one, not the whole plane!!!)

The Liberty in FS flies quite nicely, although it does cause FS to crash after a while (not identified a specific cause, but it only happens when flying that plane). There may well be an update, but I haven't looked. The SR20 is good, but you really need a big high res screen or multi-monitor set up, since I find those glass instruments to be hard to read and be able to see out the window.

They are available for FSX, but Eaglesoft insist you pay full price again, and I object to that (I think their marketing is run by the developer- never a good thing from a sales perspective!) But I might well try their new Columbia 400 for FSX, or even their CJ1 (Yes, a jet! horror!!)

Thanks G-HEVN

mmm I think my monitor is too small (only 15 inch) for the Columbia (I have heard the frame rates are better than the Cirrus) and the Cirrus - just one more question (well two really) - how does the FSD Navajo & Seneca and the Flight 1 112 compare with the Dreamfleet Baron RXP (visually and avionics)

Cheers

BTW, if you just want an AI model of a a430 tomake your own traffic with, I've no idea where you'll find one :( . Project AI has their aircraft models for download, in the left hand menu bar go Official files>resources>models and flight dynamics. Then scroll down to the a340 and DL it.

I'd say the Baron is an order of magnitude nicer than either of the FSD planes (I actually prefer the JustFlight Seneca II to the FSD Seneca V. Possibly because it's older and more beaten up...). To me the FSDs lack character. On the other hand, the FSDs are now available for FSX, whereas the Baron isn't.

The Flight1 Commander 112 is a nice plane. I prefer the steam gauge variant, since the digital is hard to read on my screen and I have a horrible tendancy to overcontrol it. I did about 30 hours round Europe in it back in the Summer. I think someone has a 114 out, but I haven't tried it.

Back on the poll: It's clear that "None" was a grave omission from the list of options, since that value has been expressed in the comments here. But it also seems clear that once people have taken the plunge, they either stick on one, or progress rapidly to "lots". Interesting!
