The mechanical type guages unfortunately may never work like the real thing, as after all, the sim is stationary. So in otherwords even if the mechanical compass did work, it'd always face the same direction. If the rate of climb gauge or back up artificial horizon did work, they too would be stationary. So in my opinion, it's about concentrating on what is important and relevant.
After all, they are back up items only in the real aircraft, and not really used during normal operations (perhaps only at a glance to check the computer matches the real world).
I went to the Pacific Simulators factory today, and they told me about their session last night on vatsim, in a couple of sims very nearly ready to ship out (another for Auckland I think and one for aussie). They've convinced me I need to install vatsim again..

I went in the sim when it was in christchurch City... really looking foward to it..

then after i finished i felt a little let down.. the guy i had with my showing what to do didn't even know the diff between a saab and a Beech.. come to think about it he didn't know anything about Aircraft... NOT worth the price..

Hmm yeah I was thinking about this last night...

I'm not sure that I'd pay all that money to play FS2004 in a fancy room with fancy controls...

Certainly worth the money . I did the hour or hour and a half one (can't remember ) last year in Christchurch when I was there on holiday, I did NZCH "“ NZWN "“ NZCH and it was very good. From what I remember I was told they use the PMDG model (but don't quote me) and on that one there was a updated land class and mesh (looked really good) apparently they build the cockpits in Christchurch out the back of Flight Experience there. There was ATC there but it had nothing to do with the sim was taken from Christchurch Tower I believe.

just visited the wellington and christchurch ones. All I can say is that they're fantastic. Quite a different feeling flicking all the switches for real rather than pressing buttons on the keyboard or using the mouse. Is it worth it? As with everything it depends. Then again, if you are posting in this forum chances are that you'll be blown away - unless you have access to either the real thing or a $10,000,000 motion sim.

I can only recommend it - wholehearedly.
