Welcome Matlo, I think you speak for just about all of us when you talk about FSX. :ph43r:

Gday

Had a quick look through my intro post..........it was a few years out of date, so, here's the current one. In the real world I'm an ATC at Ohakea tower, a keen skier, and runner. In the virtual world I'm into FSX and hawx.

Cheers
Nik

My name is Nik, 25years old, based in Dunedin. FSX is my drug of choice, but I supplement this addiction with a little bit of CFS3 and Lock On(but not much). I'm currently working on a Physiology degree and soon to start my PhD. FSX is my major passion but I also enjoy skiing (Its the scenery from the ski fields that does it........and going fast). For a while I worked at NZNS as a ground handler. I head home (To Nelson) around xmas time and at mid year break.

Looking forward to picking people's brain's.

May the force be with you.

Nik (ZK-TJL) :D

welcome Nik, good to see you finally made it

Hi all, I'm David. I've been playing Flight Simulator since around April 2006 and started the real thing in June 06. It's been good fun, just did my first solo flight on the 13th of January.

Goff here...based at NZNR. I've been simming since FS98...but basically I am a "fiddler" - 80% meddling and 20% flying. I've done a few aircraft repaints, and a tiny bit of scenery design, but mostly 'potter about' with settings and AI traffic.

Mostly I fly on multiplay with my son, Matt, ( Matt's Aviation ). He's 'up' there near NZTG.

Cheers...

Marc here from Tauranga. Been living in Japan for the last 14 years, and simming since the days of 8-bit sims. I currently use Flight sim to visit Tauranga when I get homesick, and was heartbroken to note that the Tauranga scenery doesn't work in FSX! :(

Thanks for the feedback guys, us newbies tread carefully.
I have seen the ANDOVER RNZAF screenshots and it looked awesome, thats why I am greedy and want a repaint.

Being a newbie, maybe I should shed a little light on my background.

Did a PPL back in the 80's (yes I am old and silly), was just finishing my multi rating when I had my kids.......yup........couldnt afford both.

Became an engineer at ANZ overhauling and testing engines for about 14 years.
Had CAA approval to test and calibrate CF6-80 family of engines and RB211 family of engines.

Part of the job was to go and do fan trim balances....usually after a bird strike and fan blade change, on 767-200 & 300 and 747-200 and 400's.
You have no idea what its like to be sitting in the right hand seat in either aircraft with the brakes on and full noise on 1 or 2 engines......very tempting to let them off.....

Also used to test the Allison A14 and 15's off the C130 and P3's, ....now thats a real engine.

I have a full set of General Electric Engine Familiarisation courses on CD.....dont ask, I just have them.
If anyone is interested I would be happy to copy and send.
They are awesome training packages and a good insite onto how a gas turbine works.
I have GE90-115, CF6-80, CT7, CF6-50, CFM56-3 & -7, Jet Engine Concepts, Turbo Prop engine out procedure video, and so on.

I got the flight sim bug some years back and am currently running FS9....even though my PC is pretty grunty......FSX is a no go.....shame.
Spend all my time flying around NZ......it's familiar.

Have done a lot of jump seat rides in 737-300's and SAAB 340 and 767-200's.

737-300 Auckland to Wellington.......full pas and freight.....15% derate take of power setting.......climb out of AKL at 3,700 fpm......that was fun.

Anyway guys, thats my background, or some of it.
I wont burble on again but if any one would like to pick the grey matter, I am more than happy to oblige.
You all do an awesome job on this site and it is a credit to you all.
And Robin, I apologise for all the finger trouble questions I have asked you with the scenery over the last few years :-)

Cheers
Phil
