Nothing nicer than re-discovering old stuff that's just as good as ever!
Heath Wells' Timaru photoreal is very good, great autogen, sits well under Robin's excellent little NZTU.
And I've found a Porter ski-plane at last!
FSD (payware) which is a truly funky aircraft. Great glacier potential, and it virtually hovers in a good wind, you just plop it down.
Mt Cook here I come.

I have considered buying that Porter before, and I'm just wondering how it is with FPS?

My rig is not a reliable indicator at present but ran happily at 25fps nonetheless.
Although I notice the texture folder is HUGE - nearly 50 MB!
The VC is not as crisp as, say, Carenado.
Dice swing for co-ordinated turns.
Superb animated landing gear which always clinches it for me.



As I said, kinda funky.

Now I remember Craig telling me that these things chase the last jumper back to the ground, but that really is impressive!

I wonder what sort of G force the remaining PAX and pilot are receiving in those vertical dives? I'm definitely putting this one on my Christmas List

I`ve come down in a PAC750XL, 6000fpm ( and that was on a good day )

As for PAX on a drop thats a no-no, unless there`s a refuseal and then the pilot wouldnt go hard. As for the pilot, you`d do dive's in your drop training or CPL

Most turbines like the porter, cresco etc have whats called Beta mode which is essentially 'reverse' pitch on the prop. Good for slowing up on landing or in a dive. There wouldnt be any G force in a dive as there is no acceleration, only on the entry and on the recovery, I think in the dive, you would just be hanging by your harness. Dont know about going into a dive like that, I dont like the onset of weightlessness!

hehe....errr...well there would be 1 g unless you were decelerating at 9.8 m/s/s.
There is similar a/c as a default in FSX.....quite cool (Maule M-7-260C)
