Christchurch to Timaru

I flew Vatsim WN to CH this afternoon, Matthew McTague arrived at CH soon after I landed.

We decided to fly to Timaru. The weather at CH wasn't too bad, so I went VFR 4500 or below. Well after takeoff it became apparent that really I would be lucky to reach 2000 without losing sight of the ground, so I stayed at 1500 all the way.

Matthew was in a 1900D flying IFR so went higher. We hopped on private voice during the trip and both managed to put our planes down without breaking anything :)

Some pics (clickable Thumbs)

Yuck... Think I'll stay at this height. The whole trip was like this so no more screenies of the flight

What is it with bad weather, and flying online at Timaru???

EVERY time I visit there, (three times recently with the NZFFac and on IVAO), I always seem to have low visibility and high winds! Must be a South Island thing... :P

By the way, gotta love those Carendo Piper's- top quality right there

Blue skies are so boring to fly in huh?
Matt, is that a Godzone terminal building?
I seem to remember something from long, long ago...

Correct. Sorry to answer before Matt has had a chance but I really love the Timaru scenery!

I believe it was Mr Corn's first ever fs2004 airport, found on avsim under the name 'timaru.zip'

There is also some rather nice 1728sqkm photoreal scenery addon by Heath Wells which compliments it nicely, found at http://www.fsdome.com/best/best_36.htm under the name ctytimru.zip

Right, just had to switch it on, it's all there if you look for it...
Can't find the PR scenery at that link, anywhere else one could look?

Yep, Trolly's right. Both files can be found at AVSim Timaru Search

timaru.zip and
city_of_timaru.zip
