Hi,
Does anyone have any screenshots of New Zealand from FSX?
(mainly pics of NZAA & NZWN)

Also does anyone have any pics of the 747 vc?

Thanks

(Plus - How can i add a banner/signature?)

Isn't it evident?? Boeing are my favourite aircraft.

P.S. that's is my real birthday but I wish to keep my real age secret to keep you all pondering.

Here are some shots posted in the NZ PC World forums by Bruce Buckman. I'll paste the whole post with the links.

*******************************************

Here's Wellington in FS X, with the 20m mesh added but default topographical features:

And by comparison here's a similar view from FS2004, with the 20m mesh, Christian Stock's NZ Topo and landclass files:

Back to FSX, here's the Hutt Valley:
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a242/ ... valley.jpg

and another of Wellington - this is with the water effects turned down to medium:
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a242/ ... gton-2.jpg

Here's Auckland with Robin Corn's Real Auckland scenery - woks fine but there are default FSX buildings and objects that need to be removed. (there's two Sky Towers when you've got Real Auckland lodaed, for example)

Here's Great Barrier. You can see that the default textures for NZ in FS X are once again, not very NZ-like, and that the landclass needs work:

And just for comparison, here's shot takne in Japan. The sim varies quite a bit in terms of mesh detail and topographocal detail around the world - it all depends on what data MS could get. NZ is (with some irritating flaws) pretty good in this respect, due to readuly available data, and Japn looks pretty good too. Note that my FPS dropped because of this. This is something some people seem to be overlooking when tlaking about frame rates in FS X -- the greater complexity of mesh data in many parts of the sim.

Try again mate. I pasted the urls link directly from the forum, then when I checked the post they had been mangled. Should be ok now...

I've started to explore NZ on my site here.
I should get to Auckland shortly, but my system doesn't really cope well with Auckland, so I don't know whether I'll get some screenshots.

I didn't make it to Auckland tonight, but hopefully that'll be next. So far 3 legs of my journey completed.

Nice pics Rob and Ian :D It all looks a bit brown though, something I recall from FS9 in default mode, does it change to a bit greener by changing the season?

Good browse Robin, best impression yet of what FSX is about.
It certainly is texturally strong - with proper landclass and mesh it's going to be very convincing.
I was wondering about the water effects - while in the screenshots they look good, does it give an immersive (No pun intended) sim experience?
Waves didn't seem to scale correctly at altitude in some shots?

I like how the small airfields that are basically just a runway blend into the scenery better now, instead of having a big grass grass expanse on all sides.

I was planning with my next installment to talk about my settings. Some are intentionally low, including the water, to keep things flyable. I will say though that I was a bit aprehensive about the water colour from the betas, but the final version is fine.
I've never liked FS waves, and FSX hasn't changed my mind any.

Is NZAA really "all that" with gates and everything? As good as Shayne's scenery?

If so, then I may have to break down and get me some FSX (was going to hold off until January).
