Easy, fork a hard right and put your nose down, bring her 360 and land. :P

Yea, I would have to say go around ;) .

could you land the plane? yes
could you land the plane and not violate air safety regulations, possibly causing structural damage to the aircraft, not to mention the possibility of breaking the landing gear if the landing is too hard and scaring the hell out of the passengers? no

You haven't got the speed brakes out yet.

A very heavy side-slip perhaps and a bit of power at the ready to pull away. (And a good supply of sick bags)

But hey, what's that? You've got water climbing up the shoreline - looks like you have something wrong in your terrain - duplicated AFCAD perhaps? There's a useful little tool called "scanafd" - get it
here

It may not cure all, but it can help eliminate your PC's confusion...

Alternative comment to the landing... if that rising shoreline keeps going, maybe the ground is coming up to meet you

Last minute decision to land the plane only to abort and take off again. It did touch ground but with only a few feet of runway left ... :o

I'm using the 20m mesh and but I also get this "aircraft carrier effect" on other parts of the world as well. I have read somewhere that it is to do with how the sim reads elevation and anything other than the default mesh will result in this. I'll give your suggestion a go as it would be nice to land on flat ground.

By way,off topic but MS has just announce that FS X will come out on the X box 360 as well. Not to sure what to make of that.

Cheers

Would be good if they will bring out a joystick to use with it and a keyboard.
But how would they allow people to create add-ons like aircraft and scenery

Well the shuttle does come down steep - something like 22-23 degree glideslope compared to an airliner at about 3 degrees !!! I've seen shots from the cockpit showing the approach and it is unreal.

x-plane simulates the shuttle landing quite well. (from re-entry to landing)
you basically point the nose into the ground, and then at the last second pull up, flare, touchdown :D
though obviously a 737 doesn't have stubby little wings

What movie was that. I'd like to see that one. That's exactly what I had to do, point the nose down very steeply and pulled up at the last 50 feet or so with full flaps. It didn't go as planned. Air sickness bags all round.

Awesome screenshots, what an approach!

That 737 model looks real good quality too- what model and repaint is it?

As for the Wellington water climbing, the same happens to me with the 20m mesh and topo, as with Whangerai airport. Perhaps the upcoming REAL NZ problem witll address the NZWN problem.

FSX on XBOX 360? Pretty big news that is! I'd post that in the FSX forum if I where you!

"Space Cowboys". Haven't seen that one yet. Another movie is "The Core" which has a fantastic sequence with a space shuttle making a crash landing on one of those big sewers in downtown LA!

That was a nice crash landing into the LA sewers but the core has far too many flaws in it such as when the birds fly into the building because the magnetic field has changed. I think they still have eyes!

And then I went and tried it in my sim........ (ther wasn't quite as many bridges, in fact i couldn't find a sewer/river)

was it windy in that aproch cirrusnature? I quite often find myself a little high on final and discover theres strong winds lifting me up lol

I was landing a A320 a while ago and was a few feet of the ground then the stopid aircraft went to full power and started floting (panel detected a stall comeing and added thrust) down the runway, a jet floating is one of the most frustrating thinkg

Now if you were in a chopper you could of just hovered over top and slowly brought it in to land making small adjustments do your directio so you dont land in the harbour lol use chinook and you could land in the water.
