A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Here's a topic that I'd be interested in hearing everyone's opinion on...

This is the next repaint that I will be uploading to avsim in the near future.

I thought I'd address the rest of the fleet, but knew that the Caravan had already been done. Now when I checked the repaint I found that it was a bit basic and could easily be improved.

I need to make perfectly clear here that I am not saying this to run down other peoples repainting efforts - as far as I am concerned the more people that give it a go the better. And we will end up with a much wider range of repaints if everyone tackles a few.

My questions are: If I was to repaint the Caravan to match the Cessna previewed above, do people want this? or is this a bit of a waste of time since it has already been done? And, would it be considered 'rude' to try and say that any one repaint is better than another?

Have a look at my Cessna parked next to the Caravan above and you'll see what I mean. I should also say that this particular Caravan repaint was what first got me interested in the whole AI world as it was a local resident aircraft and was easy to flightplan - so I owe a big thank you to the original repainter for starting me off on repainting and flightplanning.

What does everyone think?

well as far as im concerd i think repaint something if your not happy with the way it is, and upload it to the community is fine , more the merryier , it gives us chiose and everyone has different ideas about what they like.

i do many crappy re paints and i wish a pro would come along and do them better i got fs repaint for just painting the aircraft up to make my movies alittle personalised but i sux at it

Go for it !! Paint away. I for one, would like a better Sounds Air Caraven. We all have a choice when it comes to using repaints or sceneries, if we dont like it, dont use it,...............Simple. We all like choices in pretty much everything we do in life,................. so whats wrong with choices for our Flight Sim.

I don't see anything stopping you!
For example if someone painted a realy realy bad aircraft and you want that particlular livilry but the only one avalible was this realy badly made one that someone did in 5minitues and noone else had done anothor one because they didnt want to offend that person

No body can say "I did that first and you can't" lol

Steve,
I thought I'd let you know there is another paint for the Soundsair Caravan, the one in your pic next to the 172 belongs to the 208 and the other I have is for the 208B. The main visual differenece is that the 208 (in the pic) has no black line around the bird and the other for the 208B does as like your 172. The other repaint is far better and that is the one I use. Personally and I am in no way a painter but if I could improve on something then I would, but that's just me.
Would you like both textures t compare and you'll see what I mean.
Cheers

howdy steve,

your re-paint is the correct livery. simple as that. downloaders are free to chose whichever livery version they wish to have.

For the GNZ LAP I obviously am on the lookout for all and any AI repaints.
I'd use the best one available.
If none available, I might have a go myself.
Credit is given in GNZ LAP releases, so you won't get wrongly accredited with my shoddy work.
However, it would be great if you have a repaint or a link to one , to hear from you. That way, I'd spend less midnight hours toiling on something already out there.
So please drop me a PM with any NZ AI you know about!
Many thanks :)

Make a better one if you want, I know I'd use it.

Also steve is it possible to realease the 206 with a cargo pod? Everytime I've seen ENT it had the pod fitted :)

Your painting is brilliant, you set great standards, you are not wasting your time-not everyone can do what you can do,You are Arteest,Is this a payware AI like in the great NZ AI project?. I'm certainly not knocking that,it is great and I want it-however I am first going to have to find someone to let me use their credit card to pay the US$15 for the models. I don't mind but it is not something I can download and get going straight away.I would presume there are many in the same position as me with the no credit card prob. The VOZ one is great and I now really want the NZ one to complement.Plenty of time though as it'll be a wee while before it gets down my end of the country(lower South Island)where I do the majority of my flying but not all as I have Real NZ Auckland and soon will have Tauranga and Rotorua. This AI project is the best thing to happen in NZ simming to complement the hard work of all our wonderfull developers, and without the excellent standard of aircraft painting you set, these sceneries wouldn't get the justice they deserve.
2 wrongs don't make a right but 2 Wrights made an aeroplane!
