I wonder if FSX has a damage model or are they still being oversensitive on the crashing part. Can any of you guys ask the beta dudes to do a crash movie :D .

that looks pretty nifty. emergency landing while eating pie :D (mayday! i've dropped crumbs on my keyboard and my landing gear won't extend!)

that 737NG's seems really long (as in length). almost defeats the purpose having a 737 if you ask me.

that's exactly what i was thinking
hopefully they're just using FS2004 to show off what will be possible in FSX.

On Flightsim.com the hot files for yesterday download has a file called FSX review. It is a listening one,wav or mpeg or whatever they're called.Well worth a listen. Just how much are we going to have to spend to have a decent FSX.New dual core CPU,mobo, power supply (likely) and a whole new operating system to boot!Maybe a PCIe graphics card too. It's looking like at least a $1500 upgrade before the $100 odd for the game.well most likely after the game purchase when we are dissapointed with it because we need this massive upgrade. If like me you have real world responsibilities, mortgage, kids etc... we must keep in mind it is a game after all.(nevermind the fact I am always telling everyone it is not a game it is a simulator!)It is a game as far as our computers are concerned. It is all explained in the file better than I can here. You may have to go back to the day before yesterday or so to find it in the "hot files" section. It is worth a listen.I know I've spent about $3000 in the last year on my system and it is now a pretty good FS2004 rig. IT will probably be a very mediocre FSX system.I'll get FSX like every FS addict yet I can see myself playing FS9 for a while yet.I may be pleasantly suprised but I'll get FSX expecting my current FS9 to be better, especially in NZ with the 20m&topo.The default NZ in FSX won't even come close.Since I've got the 20m&topo and then VOZ it I only fly in NZ now and a bit of Aussie but it will take a long time for me to get bored with Christian Stocks' NZ.

boy that 'FSX review' rambles <_<

if you've spent $3000 on your computer in the last year, then it should be able to run FSX with no trouble.
and you don't necessarily have to buy FSX on release either. chances are that all the add-ons you've downloaded and bought won't run perfectly on FSX. people will still make FS9 aircraft and scenery well into the future.

Yeah the guy rambles,he may even be drunk, but and it is a big but-does he know what he's talking about?I hazard a guess that he does. Now it is you Zoltuger who wants to play online with FSX as soon as it comes out right?. 64 bit only. If that's right that means Vista, and they're never cheap on release. Also I have a single core processor,AGP card and XP. My 2004 FS does go OK as you said if I'd spent that much.I didn't mean to it just happened with $100,$150 and $200 lots spent here and there.Easy to do eg...needed a bit more than 512ram so a gig stick is nearly $200.It all crept up on me really and it is all on the credit card.I'll pay it off as fast as I can by not just paying the monthly minimum,I'm not completely stupid! But we all know as simmers how addictive this is and we talk ourselves into things we just must have for realism of course and then really have to get real at the bank.I'll stick with FS9 for ages like you said,so many addons will not go with FSX,yet we are told by MS how serious they are about backward compatability and all. The 'rambling review' (let's call it that from now on) is just saying beware and know what we are doing here. And I'm not dumping on MS either, they are a great company, we simmers all know this. You are right in saying my computer will run FSX OK,will that be with all the sliders to the left and always wondering what it should be like if I just buy this thing and that thing. This is exactly how I spent so much by having a Pentium2 350mhz overclocked to 450mhz(bare minimum to run FS9)Now I made the post because I agree with the guy that people should know what they're getting into.MS have not told us to go and all buy the latest gaming computers.Only 2 months out from release and the required specs haven't been decided.Do you honestly believe that? I will get FSX at some stage but I won't be under any illusion about it.$3000 spent and I can't even put 2 dots above the 'o' in your name.Do you have a special German edition or am I missing something(most likely)

i had to stop listening to that guy, he really is drunk. i think he means its 64-bit optimised- microsoft isn't stupid enough to make it 64-bit exclusive because then they'd shut out 90% of computer users (i.e. customers) in the world.

having said that, there's no doubt that FSX will look better on an Intel Core 2 PC with vista, 4GB of memory and 2 graphics cards. few people can afford that, but the reality is that new software will always push the limits of your machine- it's been designed to do that. so if you want better graphics, you're going to have to fork out for a new computer. i'd say most people would have a reasonable understanding that this is the case.

and if the rumours are true, we'll get an FSX demo- so you'll be able to try before you buy :D

and yes, i am planning to pre-order FSX.

(P.S. hold ALT and type 0246 on your keypad to get the ö. i don't expect anybody to bother doing that tho. :D )

B)

ladies and gentlemen, please stow you tray tables and return your jaws off the floor and into the upright position for landing...

now see, that's impressive. about 15 minutes into the video, they show the difference between what it looks like with DX9 and DX10- unbelievable! (yes, i know its just a render, but still)

i just hope it comes out before my birthday in october. then maybe i won't have to pay for it <_<

It's pretty cool alright, thanks for the tip Zoltuger though the Alt0246 doesn't want to work for me! Is there a saving or some advantage to pre-ordering FSX?I will bite the bullet and start saving up for a decent FSX running system.I always dreamed of having wildlife and cars on the roads that actually indictate when they turn, and AI ships, that is worth paying for as far as I personally am concerned.Maybe I'll end up with 2 seperate sims, one FS9 and one FSX! I have been reasonably careful by buying FS hardware not computer hardware apart from a gig stick of DDR2 RAM. Seems it's DDR3 now!. Alot of that $3000 I mentioned went into yoke, pedals, throttles, headset etc...so that it would definately be OK for FSX.My birthday is October 7 maybe I'll be lucky like you hope to be too.In fact I think my kids can buy me it since I give them the money to buy other peoples presents with!

I'm still waiting until I upgrade, probably get a quad core or Dual core if its got significant boost in performance. I think we'll all have to upgrade to Vista anyway to make use of DX10.

you have to pay money
besides, it would have been at least 1GB, i can't download files that size without having broadband speed restrictions
