I do have to get P3D .. that is So so Impressive , so many aeroplane thingies I require, New PC first ... No point having to go for 'ghost dollars' and waiting on the other side but also require 'real dollars' before one progress's .

The lighting and shading effects in P3D are amazining. Version 3.3 is looking good. there is a hotfix due out shortly to fix a few things. Once that is done and my add ons updated I will jump to 3.3.

That's very hypnotic to watch!
I guess there will be a huge jump in the number of P3D-specific airports, now that Lockheed Martin have started to switch off the older methods of making ground polys.

Yes a double edged sword that one. While it will be good to get P3D specific sceneries it will also mean that some of the FSX ones that worked in the past will no longer work.
That will be a shame for the likes of us here in NZ where there is little attention from devs to develop scenery here....apart from yourself that is Rob.
I guess we have to sever the old code at some point. I'm just a little apprehensive about repurchasing scenery only to find that it is made obsolete with the 64 bit core that is talked about.

The new Ground Polygons are so exciting. After developing my latest airport I have found that you can have both an FSX and P3D version. I originally made FSX ground polygons (FS2002 game pack) and it only took a few hours to change them over to P3D GPs with the Specular/Reflections etc. It's only a matter of changing one file in the Scenery folder to use P3D GPs. I think there is still room for both FSX and P3D airports at this stage. Though working exclusively for P3D would be so much easier!

So can older FSX sceneries be converted over with the new P3D SDK? Assuming it has no FS9 objects.
Good to see you getting some deserved attention on AirDailyX Che.
What inspired you to do Bellingham?

It depends on how they are made. If the models/ground polygons are made in Gmax for example they will be very hard to convert to a newer P3D format. I'm not sure if you can convert Gmax files to 3Ds Max. But you could use Model Converter X to convert them which might take a while, though they could have a batch option I'm not sure. I use 3Ds Max for all my modelling, so I can simply open the older .max file in a new version of max with the V3 SDK installed and export it with the new P3D V3 features. Though with buildings I use the FSX materials because there isn't much difference. It's only ground polygons that needs to be converted, there is a big gap between FS2002 and P3D V3!

I'm living back in Vancouver now after living in NZ for the last year. Have been over here for the last 4 months, my wife is from Vancouver so that's why we are back here. Bellingham is 15 minutes drive from us just across the border and Allegiant Air have cheap flights to Vegas from there. Me and the Mrs have Vegas trip every now and then. Thought it was a nice little airport last year so decided to develop it since no one else has.

This was always going to be a major problem for me -- 3DS Max is just so expensive, way out of my reach at the moment. There is a tool to convert GMAX to Max, although it's been the subject of recent discussions as it misbehaves with Windows 10. I've never used it, but it may be an option some day.

I've always used GMAX, from day one. I do play with Blender now and then, but I really need to spend to the time learning all the things which are second-nature with GMAX.
