Nice one... was there only one chap doing all the commentary on films of the time?
They do sound veddy similar.

I think it is called BBC Standard Received Pronunciation or somesuch. The audio gear of the day called for a slower, clearly enunciated delivery. Of course, having been to the right school also helped.
