Top Robs NZCH for X-Plane 12

Postby Splitpin » Sat Oct 19, 2024 1:06 pm

I so want this to work....we have had the conversation Rob, and it was appreciated...But :ph43r:
I'm downloading the endless library files...and being asked to download again. The installation instructions seem to vary.
Do I move the whole zipped file into "Custom Scenery" or add the components of it into NZCH ?
So frustrating...I can see the port hills, AI aircraft show up....but all I have otherwise is an aircraft sized piece of tarmac, with my aircraft on it.
So far I've got your base package, Mister x, handy objects, open scenery X, CDB Library....
I understand your position, having passed this on...but it would so nice to have the whole thing in one package.

If you're only seeing the ground textures and no buildings, your scenery order needs looking at. What I do is rename every main airport folder with an A_ prefix. Libraries with an L_ and mesh with a Z_. Delete the scenery .ini file on the custom scenery folder and start the sim so it'll generate a new one. Then close it down and just check all of the airports are above global airports

Marty, sorry I've been away for the weekend.
Each of the ZIP downloads should contain one or more folders which need to be unzipped into your X-plane 12/Custom Scenery folder. Easiest way is just to open the zip file and drag the contents into Custom Scenery. Don't place the actual zip file into Custom Scenery, and don't put any of the dependencies into the NZCH folder.

:D :groupwave:
Finally cracked it ....with some guidance. A couple of hours to download a large dependencies file (almost 40,000 little bits) and I've got NZCH into XP12.
Screens coming later. Now I need some good NZ textures to go around it ....but Im more than happy for now

I use Lyndiman's NZ Ortho and the UHD mesh packs. Well, I've only bothered to download the South Island so far. Once again, a few hoops to jump through to get it installed -- it is distributed via torrent, which is not that common in flightsim. But if you have -- or are happy to install -- a torrent client, then it is one way to go.

I'm not too sure how well these are seeded at the moment, I forget to seed them most of the time, but if there was a demand, I could try to keep it seeded.
