C-130 Anniversary

Postby simonh » Sat Aug 24, 2024 11:09 am

Here's a little piece of aviation trivia.
Yesterday was the 70th anniversary of the first flight of the YC-130.
70 years later the type is still being manufactured...a tribute to the original design, and when you consider the number of variants, AC, DC, EC, HC,KC,LC,MC, SC and WC,this proves that the design is truly adaptable.
C-17 production has stopped and I can't see the A400M having the same production run.
So, happy birthday Hercules and I'm sure there will be many more.
Thanks for looking folks.

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

Longest production run ever....?

The Embraer KC-390 is making inroads of the C_130 market with several sales in Europe
