Iranian airspace.

Postby Splitpin » Fri Oct 20, 2023 10:17 am

While looking at flightradar24 this morning, I had a look at what was moving around the Middle East.
Considering Iran is apparently a protagonist in the recent troubles, a large number of international airlines transit their airspace. I can see major disruption if they closed it down.
Has that ever happened? If so, it must have been a flight planning nightmare.

Now you've got me going... :)
I saw this guy out of Belgium into Ben Gurion:

Crazy track, and 20km out he switched off the transponder.
Mind you so did the one out of Moscow before him... funny the conspiracies you can hatch in the most unlikely spaces, eh?

As to Iran: Back in the Iraqi debacle, we were diverted OVER Tehran in a Singapore Airlines B747.
I guess if it hots up there, they'll go round south, the show must go on!

"the show must go on!" It must indeed Charl. Like you, I noticed a few departures from that area with some odd course changes.
Thanks for the reply oh he of the magnificent fluffies.
