Thank you everyone for the for the good words!

Totally appreciate the time it takes to get this done. As an aside are you planning on doing Beck Helicopters site at Eltham?

Cheers Deane. My Dad said he knows Alan Beck so I probably could do that location, which would be cool. I hear MSFS is adding helicopters soon so that location would be good to add in the future. As well as Taranaki base hospital with their rescue helicopter site.

Looking forward to this with eager anticipation Che. My home airport in all it`s new glory. Hope we will be able to see the inside like we can in your FSX version.

Cheers

It would be really neat if you could do Palmerston North Airport as your next project. I am sure that someone with
the skills that you so obviously have will do it justice. Sadly the current MSFS version is a Shocker and I am sure that
the guys at the Massey School of Aviation with their 16 aircraft would be really pleased.
Also a helipad at the Palmerston North hospital just up the road would be great.
You never know, someone at Asobo might get out of bed and enable Helo's in MSFS before the turn of the century.
Keep up the good work.

Yes, Che and I have been chatting about our plans lately. NZPM is underway, and I am committed to it. I haven't been keeping up with NZA's plans, though.

That's good to hear. I think NZ will be very well equipped with detailed airports in MSFS in a years time...maybe even better than in any past sim.

Thanks everyone for the good words!

Here are some updated screens from NZNP. More a look into the interior of the terminal. Slowly adding the detail to the interior.

I want to include the koru lounge in there as well, but I can't get access to it. I want to include it but I'll have to leave if I can't.

Slowly getting there!

Knocking it out of the park! Nice work.

Quick question - how are you doing the vegetation around the terminal building? Are they default MSFS artefacts, or modelled separately?

Cheers

I modelled them from scratch. In real life they had a couple of different species of plant in their new gardens. I made 9 variations of the plant species they had in real life and basically placed them all by hand. There must be 1000s I placed. I've still got more to place but I can't be bothered finishing it off yet lol.

Hi Che,
With all that splendid detail you don`t really need the Koru Lounge. Looking forward to the completion of my home town new airport.

I only hope nothing personal happened...I cant see putting so much work into something just to abandon it when nearly complete.

Its one of the most spectacular and exotic airports in Flightsim IMO...with Mt. Taranaki in the backdrop, and the fanned out taxi lines...I have the New Zealand update but it seems Asobo left it bare.
I really got excited when I saw it here...but for some reason the majority of airports in development that I come across never get released...even when close to completion.

Hi guys,
sorry about the lack of updates. I haven't died or got kidnapped or anything like that haha.

The multimedia side of Riddlez has been keeping me busy. I've had a lot of other non-Flight Sim projects that have had priority and have gotten in the way of getting NZNP done. I haven't forgot about it, nor am I abandoning the project at all. I've been working on it here and there, but sadly it goes on the backburner when a non FS project comes along.

Me being me, I like to add lots of detail to everything so that makes the development even slower lol. Though I think it pays off in the end.

One thing I wanted to wait for was better terrain data for the area to make the airport and (surrounding area more accurate). I’ve got that data now which makes a huge difference. I've talked to Josh at NZA which has pointed me in the right direction of integrating it into the project. Having accurate terrain data makes the airport so much better. Most people don't know but NZNP has a curved runway where the ends are lower than the middle, which unless you are familiar with it, it’s quite deceptive.

I did start on other parts of Taranaki like Hawera, Stratford and Norfolk Rd as well as Taranaki landmarks. Which now in hindsight, I should have completed NZNP before I started those projects haha.

I’m lucky I got the Terminal 3D model and plans from the original Architect which has made life easier for me to develop the terminal. Which in some places is accurate to the millimetre in Flight Sim. Otherwise it would be a pain in the arse to develop it from photos alone being such a complex building haha.

One thing I haven’t got is photos of the Koru lounge. I was going to leave it and just blank out the windows. But if someone can get in there and take some reference photos, I would gladly add it in. Let me know if you can.

I see FS2024 is coming out too, damn I’m sure its going to add another layer of complexity to developers as well haha.
