Here's an invitation to join our informal group VFR flight on the evening of 30 April 2023 (Sunday) starting at 7.30pm (NZDT).

We're starting off where we left off last time, Opotiki (NZOP)

Heading northwest via Whakatane (NZWK), Tauranga (NZTG), Waihi Beach (NZWV) and Thames (NZTH).

Then heading west over the Hunua Ranges to conclude at Ardmore (NZAR) - new scenery recommended.

Flying will be in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
Server is South East Asia.
Time set is 1200 hours (noon NZT).
Weather is optional.
Aircraft is the nippy Diamond DA62.

Flight plan is here

Using Discord 'Long White Cloud' Server for voice traffic. Please try and have voice available. It makes its easier for everyone to know what's going on.

Hoping to be there tonight. I'm in the middle of a complete computer rebuild so will be interesting to see how much works.

Apologies for not turning up. I got a case of food poisoning, so I was incapacitated for most of Sunday. Feeling much better today.

Cheers, Dave

Shame. We missed you. Good to hear you are feeling better today. It was a good flight in the slippery Diamond!

Yeah it is slippery. Must be the smallish wings. First time I flew it, I kept stalling it.

Landing with the new Ardmore scenery is impressive. Man, a lot of work has gone into that.

I tried to play catch up to you guys coming in to Ardmore and managed to overspeed and over stress the aircraft. ( Did i mention how slippery that DA62 is??? :-) )

By the time i reloaded it was all over.

On the plus side the new system is quiet and smooth and a complete pleasure to fly.

I managed to find the video card today so will get that in the mail to you later this week Jeff.

Yeah, we turned around and you were gone!
Thanks re: the card, that's awesome and will be interesting to see the difference. My PC will last a little longer, for both me and then my lil fella when I replace it and he gets the hand-me-down :) Much appreciated.
I also looked into those Saitek / Logitech little instrument panel things but they are running around $320 each and when you want 6-8 of them that's quite a big spend. With my future plans potentially VR for the next PC I'll need to think very carefully whether I go that way, or expand out the 'physical' cockpit. I'm half tempted to actually get an RV-8 panel blank from Vans and two more screens and create a 'real' cockpit if I don't got the VR route. Hmmm. Lots to think about.

Usually every 2-3 weeks and Dave typically posts a new topic with the details.
I wasn't on last night either; I was playing with VATSIM NZ over the weekend though, which was something new.
